Best Time To Get AHIP Certified?

Having never done Medicare or the AHIP certification, I was curious what month of the year would be best to get the certification and be ready to start selling. If you could go back in time and redo your certification. What month would you do it in to save on CE costs and overall expenses and time?

I just make sure I try to have it done before Sept 1.
Start to finish for a seasoned agent only takes a couple of hours I think. If I could just take the test I would prefer that.
For you? Might as well start when it comes available.

What was the best study guide you used?

You shouldn't need a study guide. My first time taking it, I spread it out over 2-3 days if I remember just so my brain could catch up (there is a fair amount of info that pertains to plan types not offered in my area so I had to learn to test and then forget).

So which courses should I take? There's like 50 of them. What are the core ones needed to pass the test?

I'm pretty sure there's only one AHIP. There's Gorman who some will take as a cert but AHIP is what everyone uses.

The study guide is the reading you do before the test. Download all the reading for your first time. while taking the practice test, do screen shots with your answers.
If you're worried you'll fail the test, take the test and take screenshots of the questions. They'll most likely be close to the same next time.

Best time to take AHIP is when the carriers come out with their own certifications. That way you can get the $50 discount. Sooner you get past certs the better in my opinion; and if you're still using paper apps you can pre-order kits to make sure you have them before AEP.

Last year, the final was essentially the review questions. It's a good idea to take notes on what they ask you during the review.

If you do that, you should be just fine.

Otherwise, do it when certs are available for the discount.
