Is it allowable for an individual to have mulitple individual heath plans?

Well, maybe they want Kaiser because it has maternity. And then they want Anthem or something because it covers something else they want that Kaiser doesn't. Is there a law that says they can't have two?

Every application I've seen in California has a question about current coverage. If you are currently insured, there is another question where you agree to cancel your plan when the new plan issued.

Futhermore, there is a question about having applications in with other carriers.

So, while there is no law against it, you have agreed to only have one carrier based upon the application.

Rick is correct, with one exception. Blue Shield CA.

Blue Shield allows you to keep any other plan, group or individual, and purchase their IFP product.

Needless to say, no coordination of benefits available.

And from working as a claims processor in a doctor's office, when insurance companies refuse to coordinate benefits you've just entered the fifth circle of hell.

Get your answer from usa-healthinsurance they might help u.

It won't work, virtually every insurance company will NOT issue unless you agree to discontinue the other plan. In addition there is no coordination of benefits.

Further more it is a horrible idea based on cost even if it did work.
