Can a Person Have More Than One IFP Policy?

The policy that has been in placed the longest will be view as primary.

Your looking at a claims nightmare if you do this.

I am wondering if a carrier could rescind based on this as well.

For example if the application specifically asks "...do you agree to discontinue coverage..." and you put YES, but you DO NOT this could be material misrepresentation as you lied on a question.

Would not surprise me one bit if that was a reason to rescind coverage.

Again, this is specifically a California question and answer, since OP is asking about California. Blue Shield CA has no such language in their application and fully allows you to purchase an IFP plan and maintain other coverage, either group of IFP.

There is NO COB with IFP Plans in California. You pick whichever plan card you want to use for a service and use only that plan. No primary/secondary, no oldest/newest.

There is no language in the other carriers contracts prohibiting purchasing another carrier's plan or requiring dropping an existing plan in favor or adding another carrier's plan.

All carriers in CA require you drop your other coverage before the new plan goes into effect (at purchase) EXCEPT Blue Shield.
