Cleveland Clinic Will NOT Be Forming Its Own Insurance Company

Just got a broker update from Medical Mutual, they have doubled down and guaranteed all its agents that Cleveland Clinic will not be forming its own insurance company, which is a huge relief to Medical Mutual, but very telling about the state in health care reform.
If one of the top 5 hospitals in the country (who's network is gobbling up all networks and doctors in the area) is deciding not to issue its own insurance, then maybe they have looked long and hard into the idea that has been gaining traction in NY and CA. I know we talked about this before on the site, thread.

So is this idea shot and buried or do you think it might pop up again?

Not sure how it will play out, but Baylor Hospital, which is a major player in DFW, bought Scott and White. Scott and White is primarily an HMO out of Waco ( 2 hours south of Dallas, where Baylor University is located), with a baby PPO.

Scott and White came into DFW with a great MAPD plan and HMO On Exchange. In the past Baylor took NO MAPD's. Now, if you want Baylor and a lot of people do, they are buying Scott and White. And its the only HMO On Exchange with a decent network.

The bad news is that it was total chaos in Waco, where they had no idea how many people they would get, both for MAPD and Exchange clients. They are still catching up.
