Correct Way to Handle Old Leads

My manager handed me a stack of old leads, and I'm wondering if there is a certain way to work these leads that have already been worked before. I think he expects me to go door knock, but these leads are from June, September of last year. Do you really door knock on a lead that is just about a year old and show them the lead card that says June 2014 lol? What methods do you guys use? Certain type of phone scripts, just show up? Please let me know so I can come up with some sort of strategy, thanks.

Overrider, you are over thinking. There's a lot of money to be made on old leads. Knock, tell them why you're there (they sent requesting info), ask, "May I come in?" and make a move like you are expecting to come in. Best Wishes, you'll do well.

What does your upline recommend?

When I ran aged leads, I would send a refresh letter and call them as they were new. Most of these folks are serial mailers, so they've probably mailed a new card within the last 3 months.

Yeah, I have a huge problem with over thinking everything. I'll be out there today, thanks!

He never told me what he recommended. I'm guessing he just wants me to run it like a new lead and door knock. He wants me to make one sale off these old leads before I can get my own fresh leads. And it makes me mad because what do you think would be easier for a new agent to sell: a new fresh lead, or one from June last year that he already gave a presentation to? I'm still out here trying to make it work but it hasn't been going so well. I just need that ONE sale to start this momentum.

You have the relationship off on the wrong foot. Your up line should make recommendations about your leads when you are new but should NOT be controlling your lead choices.

Get your own new leads. There are vendors on the forum for telemarketed leads and direct mail leads. Buy your own. Take any freebies he gives you as extra but don't try to build your business on the freebes.

You should reevaluate your business model and who you have surround yourself with. Sounds like you have a very poor road map in front of you to be successful.

Definitely over-thinking.

Get off the Forum and get to work.

The last thing an admitted over-thinker is is too many perspectives, too many options.

Update us after you hit 30 doors.

I could go into detail about aged leads, but they DO work if YOU work.

You either believe that and will work them, or don't and won't.

These leads are still pretty new for aged leads and if you door knock them, you will make sales. Did your manager really just hand you a stack of leads with no direction? I am betting he didn't do that at all. The last thing any manager with any common sense would do is hand you valuable, aged leads, and not give you some sort of direction as to what you should do with them.

I'm betting you already know what to do with those leads, and you just need some motivation. Door knocking is an art and it can be very intimidating when you first start doing it. Push through the fear and get inside.
