Coventry/Aetna Commissions

They claim these MA members are on a consolidated plan for 2016 so therefore they are paying them out in a lump sum since it is basically considered a new plan. Wonder if I could have wrote them all to a Med Sup with a GI since it is technically a "new plan?" They still haven't answered if this will show up on my 2015 or 2016 income.

I'm on the phone with them again now about my commission problem. Apparently what "working on it" means is that we are doing nothing and hoping you will forget.

OK, deal!!!!

Now I finally got someone on the phone that understands the problem and says she will get it fixed. Problem is the person that needs to sign off on it is not in today. So it will be Monday before it can be fixed. But she did say that I should call her Tuesday if I haven't heard back.

No, they didn't. They only paid lump sum last year on business written during AEP. All of my old renewals that didn't make any changes were paid monthly & that amount varied based on the year that they came in. some earlier ones paid $16.75/mo, others paid $17.00/mo and so on. Originally they paid out for a number of years & then people would fall off the report - they still appeared, but no commissions paid. So folks who had come on in 2008, didn't yield commissions in 2015 anymore. I had expected my 2009 effective dates to fall off this year & they all appear - paid in full, so I guess we will be paid ongoing as stated in their training meeting. My issue with this is having it all reported during this tax year with no warning . . . . Ugh! . . . .

I have never received a monthly renewal commission check from Coventry. Last year I was paid up front for the whole year on renewals.

They just told me that it will be on 2015 1099 but is not going to pay out until middle of January. Again, screw the agent. Blamed it on CMS just like everybody you talk to blames it on someone else. It's HIPAA, CMS, SSA, Humana, UH, Coventry, etc. fault. All of these agent services people just say whatever they can to get you off the phone and leave them alone.

Of all the answer you could have received, that was the absolute worst, which is consistent with everything related to agents in today's world.

Aetna sent out an emergency e-mail about this today and said it woul appear As a payout for 2016 tax year.

Not my experience--I have years of monthly statements to prove it.

I'm not doubting you. Just saying that here, I don't get monthly from them. Maybe it's only in Florida.

Not sure - I guess there could be state differences. Oh well, I guess we should just be glad we're actually getting paid.

Got a notice late yesterday in the individual market from Humana saying no more commissions in my market for Under 65 business after March 2. So, Medicare seems to be the only market paying agents anymore . . . .
