I'd like to hear some stories of how everyone started out financially in the FE business.
Did most of everyone have a savings account before they started? Or
Did you have to make some sort of sacrifices to get going, such as credit card debt, selling of personal items for cash (gun collection rings a bell from one of you guys on here, lol :) loans, etc?

Curious!

I received a large bonus when the Kansas City Monarchs baseball team signed me as a starting pitcher.

I hurt my arm but the bonus allowed me to get started in business.

Although I don't sell final expense I thought you'd appreciate that information.

Left a debit company and started selling med supp and what we now call FE.. was flat broke with a wife and three kids...I didn't get advances but was allowed to submit nets.. I could deposit the checks that were payable to the company and then write them a check for their "share"... Had to hustle to pay the bills...Majority of the business was written on an annual premium basis.. If I wrote a life plan with a $200 annal premium, I kept $180 and sent the company $20.. Really enjoyed the business in those days. No POS, MIB, Script Check and very little government invovlment.

Came in working another job to pay for leads. Struggled at an 80% contract didn't really start making money until I got a 115% and now 120%. Big difference!

Had a towel, fork, spoon and child support. Slept on my buddy's living room floor. 3 hours from home and a cultural Galaxy away. A month over due on my truck payment. Borrowed my mom's Mervyn's cc to buy a polyester blue grey combo suit two shirts with included ties. High school drop out competing with fresh college grads with $ warm markets. Oh, and I failed the aptitude test. 50% comp. As earned fully underwritten.

Ah, the good times.

Didn't Cool Papa Bell take you deep the batter before your arm blew out?

I was thinking he tried to chock up on a short bat.
