Cutting DM Mail Times to 10 Days from 3 Weeks

I always wondered why it takes 3 weeks to get mail responses back from most every lead vendor. So, I called locally at some big print shops and was told since they would be mailing from my state it would take only 10 days. Makes sense when you think of the time the piece takes to get there from say Texas to east coast and back. I am working on getting quotes to compare the quicker response times vs cost. Anybody ever mailed locally and found it to be faster?

Yes. I have received mail back in less than 7 days using a mail house that was about 80 miles from me. It doesn't make sense though. You would think that mailing out of state would only take 4 extra days total at the most.

You would think some mail house would have an  like this and advertise like a mad dog to all of us. It would definitely help the "I don't remember mailing anything" people if we could cut the lead time from 21 days to 10 at the most. I saw a mail house with an 800# on it to allow clients to call us in case they did not want to mail it. Kind of sounds like a good idea as well. Some will call and not mail and visa versa. Comments from more gurus here?

True, but this concept would give an agent quicker turn around for leads, create less overlapping of mailing sucky areas before you knew how horrible they were, and give an agent faster cash flow for the ones not as deep pocketed as others. Idea might help someone...just food for thought

If you're mailing on a regular basis it doesn't really matter how long it takes after the 1st drop or two.

Rick

The benefit is having leads that are 2 weeks fresher...

I only tested with a number on a few thousand bit it was the worst mailing I ever did. I was getting 3 or 4 resoonses (mail and calls) per thousand. Could have also been the mail house too...

So you think the day the person receives the card they fill it out and mail it back in?

I find cards laying on the table on about half of my appointments. I just got a card in today that says "2014 Benefits" on the top. Either the mail is really slow or the guy has been sitting on this card.
