I know a person with full Medicare-Medicaid benefits who claims that she was refused by a Walgreens store. she is 100% LIS. My understanding is that an LIS can go to ANY contracted pharmacy and pay LIS prices for covered drugs.

PDPs are not my forte, I guess.

100% LIS should purchase the lowest cost PDP available, hence the Hum/WalMart plan... they should be able to go anywhere and buy their Rx for the 1.10 / 3.30 rates, based on my understanding.

Actually there is a CCRx plan for LIS that I think is 12.30 mo, but it may not be available everywhere... not sure. Suggest you go to Medicare.gov Plan Finder and input their info and check off that they are full LIS, and the site will do the search for you... and suggest the lowest cost PDP to purchase.

Not all premiums are paid in full for people with 100% LIS. Only the plans printed in blue ink in the back of the Medicare and You booklet.

If they chose any other plan they could pay a premium. They are also still bound by the formulary of the plan they are on. But, they can change plans at any time.

They do have to be on a PDP. If they don't chose one, one will be assigned to them.

This is good info... however, I have searched the Med & You online version and see nothing as to the PDP's listed in Blue

It seems that I have seen exactly what you are referring to here, but not in that publication, must have been somewhere else... whether on the plan finder on Med.gov or elsewhere, not sure at the moment.

If you could point me specifically to the pg # your are referring to in the pamphlet you reference, would be helpful. I have a situation that I am currently working on where this is pertinent.

Where the PDP's are listed in the back of the book the ones printed in blue are no cost to the 100% LIS.

The premium is what's printed in blue. I'm looking at at 2011 Ky booklet right now and it starts on page 133. It even tells you at the bottom of the page about the premium being $0 if it's in blue and you receive "full" extra help.

I have been looking at the online pdf version of the Med & You book. Do not see the same info listed, although it certainly references the LIS and Part D plans, but not specifics. hmmmm
