UHC PDP going non-commissionable 6/1/25

benes don't like $590 deductibles

I have been selling PDP with deductibles for the last 15 years. Once they understand how it works, I rarely get pushback. When I show them the PDP report comparing $0 deductible vs the deductible they agree to go with the deductible plan.

Getting to be almost impossible to find a $0 deductible PDP.

Definitely. We have exactly two plans in Georgia with no deductible. Premiums on those plans are $100 and $135.90 per month. Or you can pay $159.80 per month for a plan with a $155 deductible. Or $112.40 for a plan with a $175 deductible. Humana has a plan with a $573 deductible. Outside of that, all $590 deductibles. Consumers may hate it, but this is what you get when government decides to "improve" plans and limit the MOOP. It sounds really good to do that, but in reality it likely only helped 10-15% of the population. Everybody else is likely to spend more moving forward.

I'd like to see the financials on the Value Script plan. Especially without the extra money the previous admin threw at them to keep the plans from looking terrible.
They went over it (the PDP business, which is heavily skewed toward the value plan) on an earnings call earlier this year. They're intentionally running it at break even for now, but standalone PDPs have never been a big money maker for anyone.

In many cases, the plans enable a larger strategy - like supporting a MSUP market position or adding scale for the PBM - but the strategic value is declining. All the PDPs have sufficient scale now and MSUP is not the future of government plans.

MAPD is the money maker, despite what you might read on this board. I wish more brokers understood more about the industry in which we operate. It matters.

I understand they went over it in an earnings call earlier this year. I want to see the numbers when the year is over. Believe it or not, even the smartest actuaries miss it on occasion.

They've lost a combined $450 billion of market cap the last yr. Your stock price and catering to shareholders is all that matters and thats been ugly .
