Friends don't let friends be their Insurance Agent....

Another point is don't be "that guy." Don't be that guy who no one can be around because it's always about business, pitching, and handing out your cards at social events. If you want to watch your friends stop returning your calls or disappear then start hitting them up for insurance.

I wouldn't approach a friend about investments or health insurance, but for life insurance, I would ask once. Simply tell them that your policy is to ask once and never bring it up again, if they want your help, you will take care of them, if they don't, that's fine also and you'll never bring it up again. I have a few friends that became clients, if I give them a call about business, I always say so right at the beginning of the call.
 
I definitely sell to friends, I just don't solicit them.

If a friends or relatives approach me because they want to purchase coverage, I will definitely let them buy from me. Asking friends to purchase from me is a different story though, I don't want them to feel obliged.
