I am considering getting licensed in Ohio. I currently am licensed in MI only. Who would I contact to do that and what all is involved? I have worked most of the populated areas in Michigan over the past 4 years a couple of times and am thinking a change of scenery might be nice. I believe OH is a reciprocating state with MI?

Renew or apply for an insurance license in all 50 states using Vertafore (formerly Sircon)

This is a good site for non-resident licence's. Most if not all states are reciprocal with your Resident licence. It takes about three days in most states. You pay a non resident fee.

You also have to get appointed with your carrier's once you have your non-resident licence. This could take a few days longer.

Your continuing education credits will be updated with the Sircon service. Their fee is very low and I believe they have a free version.

Is Ohio worked over? My plan would be the same as it is now. Pick a zipcode with a large mix of colors and lower home values and work leads within a 30 miles radius. I would prefer to stay away from the super large cities and work cities of 150,000 or less.

The big question you need to ask yourself, is it worth the drive? If you don't mind the long drive, maybe, but the scenery isn't much different. I worked Ohio as well when I was in MI. IT wasn't worth the drive. I worked the Toledo area and other small towns around there. Maybe I was so tired from the drive it effected my business, but it wasn't any better from a sales standpoint.. If you are truly out of leads through out all of MI or you have a deal with your upline that he needs to unload some leads in OH, it might be worth it.

Getting a nonresident license in OH is easy though, might be worth it if you are road warrior, but you gotta deal with more cops to give you tickets, more driving, and have to deal with Buckeye fans!!...meh:nah:

Most of the time I drive about 2 hours from my home and work 2 days in a row spending the night in a hotel. I live near Lansing so I could get to northern Ohio for essentially the same amount of driving. Working press one leads after 6 or 7 months you start getting lots of bad leads and numerous repeats. When I do that I like to change areas. Over the past 4 or 5 years I have milked most of MIch at least press one wise.

Youd be surprised how many diff ppl would reply to mailers in the same areas you have already worked that DIDNT reply to the phone....so mail to those for the next say 12mos, then go back to phone is 1 possible solution.
