Giving Referrals to Agents on Here, NO MORE.

It takes all of 2:42 minutes to enroll someone at Medicare.gov.

I enrolled someone yesterday in Express Scripts Value. I wrote their Med Supp

I should also note, I used to give Nevada Med Supp referrals to an agent on this forum, lets call him Rick. He used to charge me a free dinner in Las Vegas for troubling him with these referrals. It wasn't worth the hassle so I got licensed in Nevada.

How many states are you licensed in?

Years ago a fellow forum member who has now been permanently banned (yes, it can happen) sent me an MA referral in So Cal. He wasn't certified so I wrote the policy. Little did I know that he not only wanted me to take care of his client, but to take care of him also.

For a couple of years he posted how I made $500 and didn't even send him a gift card to Starbucks. Many of you will remember the forum troll that thought all agents other than he (let's call him Hal) were dishonest. Even had that on his website.

Lucky for him he inherited enough and his wife had enough disability coming in to keep them above water.

It works both ways. I've referred to others here and never asked for anything in return and others have been good enough to do the same for me.

On the other hand, I sent a referral to an agent many years ago who told me he would take care of my client. Unfortunately, I believed him (let's call him Wayne). This is an agent who pointed out just how easy Medicare was and apparently was god's gift to insurance. I'm sure you can guess how that ended.

So I agree. I'm now very careful who I trust here.

Rick

He who shall not be named.....What have you done Rick ;)

After 38 years of only being licensed in California, I'm now licensed in Nevada.

I frequent Reno. I've been referred to many casino employees that are still active, and, either age 65, or, approaching age 65.
Their group coverage sucks! High deductible, and, lousy network.
I enroll them in a Med Supp and a Part D. They are now happy.

Ok, maybe I am showing my complete ignorance here, but I did not think as an agent I was allowed to enroll people in PDP or MAPD I was not appointed with if I sell with any PDP or MAPD carrier. I have never enrolled anyone using medicare.gov, wouldn't I be signing an application on their behalf? Or is there some way to send it to their email so they do the final signature?

So, I would have done the same thing as the person being complained about thinking it was a CMS compliance issue, not because I was lazy or unwilling.

Of the 24 Part D plans in California, I'm certified with 19. If one of the 5 I'm not certified is clearly the "best" choice, I just enroll the Medicare Beneficiary through Medicare's web site. You are simply helping that person enroll. I probably enrolled 30 people through Medicare's web site this past AEP. And yes, it takes less than 3 minutes.

You can enroll people via medicare.gov. And when you sign it, the button says "I am the person listed or simply assisting in completing the form". You are covered, legally.

What I do tell people is: "I am not legally your agent, because the amount of rules in place are just not worth the $30-ish I get for these. However, if you have any problems, please let me know and we can call together. I just say that I'm your daughter"

More important...I have a lot of respect for you for asking why this person was wrong, instead of just wondering why people were getting pissy.

Nice to see an intelligent question and just as an intelligent answer on here.
