Google Voice - Ring Central

I have had my 800 number for many years. My business number has changed several times due to moves, area code changes and carrier changes. My 800# has stayed the same. I now have a toll free fax number that my internet fax forwards to. So even if the numbers change the toll frees printed on my cards and letterhead always stays the same. I could move to Texas or Maui the number is the same.

For me also, the majority of my work is 3 -4 hours from me so clients seem to fill less concerned about the fact that I am so far away. Probably just how I conceive it.

Email and scanners have cut my cost a lot. It no longer surprises me when a client ask if they can fax or email it to me from home.

I know exactly what your saying...I plan at some point in the future to move back to where I grew up, while it is still in the same state and area code it is outside the exchange I am currently in so I love having all my lines go through Ring Central so I don't deal with the landline phone companies...Oh Healthagent I understand what your saying about it looking like it is designed for a larger company...But you can have things taken out such as once someone dials my softphone rings and I answer and give the company greeting unlike the original setup that Ring Central answers and gives a greeting and then connecting because it was taking too long.

I prefer Ring Central for is it more reliable. It has features that you can't find in Google Voice, i find them better for aside from that customer service is available whenever you need them.

Thanks for the feedback. outside of the cost "free vs $$" - Google Voice has much better #'s that match my area... I've never seen the ones RC has offered.

I also use RingCentral. So far so good. I have apps faxed and I also fax them (all online).

I bought a vanity number which I never take advantage of. The last four digits spell "Ohio" and I finally realized people don't like hunting for the letters on the phone.

WebRingtone was used in this post
WebNanny was not used in this post.

Anyone successfully setup GV with X-Lite 4.0, SipGate.com w/ Win 7 64 bit? Trying to set up GV with the X-lite softphone, no luck so far....seems to be an issue with touchtones.....it doesn't recognize the touch tones on x-lite when I enter in the confirmation code .

What are some of the features that RC has that GV does not that you use or feel are deal breakers?

Thanks for your feedback.

GV sucks for business. Goes down weekly. Can't fax to it or out from it. Drops calls. Static sometimes.

But - it is free . . .
