Even debit agents have it easier. It used to be that if a collection client moved, you would have to transfer them to another agent, or get them to mail it. Now, if they have a debit card, I can take the payment by phone. For that matter, I've been collecting a pretty big portion of my agency by phone ever since COVID.Yup.
A company asked me to handle a claim by email. I asked for a policy stat on the husbands policy and details of the spouse rider by email. I text the 65 yr old and set up a phone meeting. My calendar prompted me of the call, I pressed the link and my phone dialed and her voice came over my car speakers as my nav guided me to my destination and my smart cruise control kept me between the lines and a safe distance from the car ahead.
So on the day of the F2F my phone woke me, my news feeds brought up videos I would find interesting. I grabbed a cup for the road and my Surface Pro bag. No apps, no illustrations, no brochures, no maps. I pressed the address on the calendar app and nav routed me three hours away. On the fly I told my car to reroute via I5 so I can drive a little faster as I am streaming music with lyrics, I5 karaoke.
I ask my car for the nearest gas and breakfast, it routes me there. I text her ETA updates via voice to text.
I walk in with one little satchel and my Samsung 25 in my pocket. We go over options and the non contestable conversion. I do the fillable app, she signed with my stylus. I took scans of her and daughter's IDs and a void check for the auto draft. ask my car to find me some fried chicken on the way home. Uploaded the app and sent them summary emails as I ate my cobbler.
Yeah man, the good old days weren't as easy as we remember them.
We were a little late to the game with eapps, which we only got recently. I have a love/hate relationship with them so far. Love them for how much easier they make the process, immediate underwriting, and that I can get a signature by text. Hate because the automated underwriting spits out more declines or modified offers than I'm used to! (They say they're working on that. Fingers crossed!)
