Can they call Medicare and get number if they have letter?
Caveat, not an agent. You can get your MBI and additional information by going online and downloading your "Benefit Verification Letter". You can get this on your Social Security web page at this link. You will need your SS login information.
Once you have logged in:
Click where it says "Your Benefit Verification Letter"
Then click on the adobe icon that says
"Your Benefit Verification Letter"
This will download a letter which shows your social security benefit, if you are receiving one. It will also show if you are enrolled in Medicare. And, if so, it will also give you your Medicare number as well as your Part A and Part B effective dates.
About 80% of mine seem to be able to log in to their SS accounts. Frequently thats how they initially enrolled in Medicare.Do you find that most of your clients have computers and the necessary computer skills to get a MySocialSecurity account set up without significant hand holding from you?

Looks like the process is going to get even more complicated. Saw an email this morning that SS is going to start requiring the use of Login.gov or ID.me account to log in to your My Social Security account.if helping them remotely the biggest problem is taking photo of id and selfie unless they have some technical savvy most can't follow my instructions.I tell some of them to do a walk in at local SS office which has been very fast recently.
