When your'e calling to set your appointments. How do you identify yourself? I mean since most are independent agents. This is _____ with _____?

I would not think saying something like this is Joe Blow and im an independent insurance agent, would fly. Im sure everyone is different, im just asking.

Are you talking about setting appointment off lead cards or straight up cold calling?

Don't think lead card or cold calling makes a difference.

Your name and company name mean nothing to the prospect! Unless you're calling from an easily recognized name like CocaCola, IBM, McDonalds, etc., names like "Senior Benefit Group" and the like are worthless. In addition, if they hear "insurance" or "investments", they will immediately shut down.

What is more critical for success is to use a pattern interrupt; "Hi, this is Joe Blow. I'm sure that's a name that's not familiar to you..."

Why state the obvious and waste precious seconds by telling them they don't know you?

I didn't know that there was a name for it, but I've been doing that for years. I like em to be "off balance and answering questions". I almost always get the information that I want when I ask for it at a time that they weren't expecting it.
