I have been hired By United American Insurance Co. and take my state exam Monday but have not been told much by or about this company. If anybody can tell me anything I would appreciate it. I have a family and can't afford to lose out because I tied on with the wrong company.
Thanks In Advance
Robert

Try a search of these forums. Should tell you everything you need to know.

Hi I was hired by them also but I have been busy with another insurance opportunity but the company offer sounds very good but many people on here say stay away. It seems like a good opportunity to me. Let me know what you decide Amy

Go to ripoffreport.com as well. The entire premise of the Torchmark cos. is based on recruiting. Because they recruit so heavily, we get tons of people on here asking about it. A lot more UA people than say, a normal company who gets normal amounts of agents applying at the office. UA runs people through the office like it's a workout program. It's good excersise running in and right back out. They should charge the fees of a workout club.

And another thing.... the coverage is basic hospital and medical expense, and very spotty at that. I cannot tell you how many times when I worked there { for like two weeks}, how many times I heard my manager lie to the client about the amount of coverage that was being sold. My manager would just tell them it was a major med, comprehensive health insurance policy. And that the client would have doctors and prescription coverage inside of the policy, when in fact it was a seperate discount card, no actual coverage. My manager also pushed new agents to say it was comprehensive over the phone, to get the appointment. And, that the coverage was as good as Aetna, Unicare, Assurant, Blue Cross, etc, over the phone, to get the appointment- to go out there and replace the more expensive {better} stuff. Should be illegal, probably is illegal. DO NOT LIE and do potentially ILLEGAL stuff to go out and try to learn the insurance biz. Please- do not.

Funny story: once we went into a business and the owner was rather educated as to what health insurance was all about. He tells my manager that we were showing a basic indemnity policy. My manager was so uneducated about insurance- and had no clue what an indemnity policy was, and took it as an insult or that the client had no clue. My manager thought indemnity meant either DI or LTC, I cannot remember which. The manager then acted insulted, that the prospect would "put down" our policies, then lectured the prospect on the fact that we were not there to talk medicare or long term care, but rather to talk major med! { which of course we were not, we were talking indemnity}
When we got out of there and into my car, I told my manager that we INDEED DO sell indemnity. I do not think it ever sunk in, or the manager was playing dumb. Or was dumb. I could list a bunch of other illegal things that happened, that day and other days, but will not. The UA way of life gives insurance agents a bad name -for sure.
