New Agent Contract Terminated

I also agree that this sucks but is probably a blessing in disguise...Why would you want both you and your wife stuck when Farmers becomes excessively expensive in your area...You might not be ready to jump and own your own IA at this point but you should look at clusters and maybe an IA where they will let you grow a book.

Sounded like he wanted to take advantage of the marketing allowance...probably some salary?

My views on what lines are better to start with wouldn't provide you with an accurate view for your area.

If you have a niche that you're comfortable and plugged into...and a carrier that supports a competitive product for that niche...that seems to be very profitable for many agents. Had a friend who hooked up with an aviation carrier years ago and made a killing...he was a pilot, spoke the language, had a good (exclusive)carrier and made a mint.

Yes, I wanted to take advantage of the training programs and marketing assistance they provide. I had planned to hire producers for the auto and home policies, cross sell life to make those numbers and become a specialist in the commercial sector for the real money.

This would have benefited both of our agencies as I could have helped both books.

I was fully prepared to work 6 day per week 12 hours per day. I knew what was expected and was already working these hours while preparing for the exams. I have two licenses but will need sponsorship to attain the Series 6 and 63. I'm not sure if Farmers will still support this initiative unless I agree to become a specialist in this area.

I wish I knew some pilots. I know lot's of people with large yachts.

Thanks for the info.

That is an interesting article. Does this mean the licensing requirements will change to the Series 7 if this passes?

CaNewAgent,

I'm a pilot, can I help you? :)

I'd contact Allstate. I can give you a good contact if you'd like. With your attitude & skills, you can knock the ball out of the park IMO and make good money. Their training is pretty good if you get the right manager. [same with Farmers/State Farm IMO]

Happy to help with strategy/advice. I've built two Allstate agencies from scratch. Give me a shout if you'd like.

Im sure any independent agency would take you on as a producer. Negotiate dome type of ownership in your book and get some experience under your belt in the independent realm. It won't be long and you will recognize how much of a blessing that was.
