New insulin coverage for 2021

You are..

There are, approximately, 7.4 million people that are insulin dependent in the US.

Trump's statement is that insulin IS so cheap that it's like water, right now. It isn't.

1) These rules don't go into effect until January.
2) They do nothing for the OTHER 3.7 million people that are insulin dependent and NOT on Medicare (which is what I said in your quoted text.)

Now, I am glad that Medicare will offer reduced costs on Insulin.. It's maybe one of three things Trump has done successfully for regular Americans in 3.75 years.

However, also take into consideration that IF the ACA is overturned, new gap coverages for Part D will also be eliminated for Medicare without new legislation (which would be rushed as Republicans have put no comprehensive plan forward to replace the ACA, in the unlikely (at this point) event they hold on to the Senate and White House.) So while insulin will come down, virtually all Rx's that fall in the gap will go up.

Now, had Trump said, "I signed an EO that's dropping insulin costs for Medicare beneficiaries next year." That wouldn't be a lie.

He didn't.

A number insured plans for folks NOT on Medicare already have "affordable" copay's for insulin. This includes EGHP's, many of which include Rx in your OOP cap.

A friend who is covered by a large employer group plan pays $10 for insulin and $0 after hitting his annual OOP max. Roughly 70% of the working population is covered by group health plans.

U65 insured plans, individual and group, generally follow the Medicare lead on benefits and claims. Those plans that do not already have reasonable copay's on insulin will most likely follow Medicare and adjust benefits accordingly.

"Most likely" is in no way a rationale argument about a statement that the President presented as current fact. It's a hypothetical.

Furthermore, as you know, group plans vary from employers AND even offerings at the same company. You do have an argument, at least, as some medical plans may offer significantly decreased costs for insulin as part of their benefits package.

However, let's look at average costs for Americans:

Insulin needs are highly dependent on the individual, some people can take up to 6 vials a month. Underinsured or uninsured, that can be upwards of $1500 a month.

In 2012, the average American paid approximately $2500 a year for insulin.

In 2016, that number nearly doubled to $5200 annually.

Diabetes Statistics

Now, let's talk about Trump's statement:

"Insulin is so cheap, it's like water."

It's not. For seniors it's about to get a lot better for insulin. For the rest of Americans, it's not.

Using 1 person (too small of a sample) as the average person or using the "generally do" arguments are not sufficient to validate a statement presented as fact.

Honestly don't get it his statement was to the fact that we pay too much for meds in the US due to the current system its true

However, who cares the point he was making was that he was working to lower cost for SENIORS

Your complaint that it does not help any NOT On Medicare?

Its the same as complaining Nonworking people not getting unemployment or Dependant student not getting stimulus

It's just insane

But it's worse in light of

But you Love Obama and what he did Helped the 1% that just didn't make Medicaid and hurt the whole of the middle class

I mean literally, the person that just misses Medicaid and has great subsidy Many between there and up to the middle class generally did not buy anyway AS PREDICTED and REFUTED by the Obama administration Yet here we are just as predicted

WOw I cant belive you don't even blush

He did not say anything of the sort, at least in any of my research. Now, if your talking about OUTSIDE of the debate, please show me that statement. I'm happy to stand corrected.

I never said anything about the stimulus or enhanced unemployment benefits. Nor am I going to go in too much depth about it..

Just know, in most instances I agree that enhanced benefits (which Republicans and the President agreed to) can definitely be misapplied.

For example, I was laid off for 1 day for 10 weeks. The government AUTOMATICALLY enrolled me in the enhanced plan. We got an additional $1200 biweekly for 5 pay periods.

In my instance, I hired local contractors to do some work around the house (don't worry, they were all legal) and in turn that money was used to pay his workers in a more depressed area of the state and also fund his church (the contractor that I've worked with is a Pastor.)

Should we have gotten that money? Absolutely not.
Did I use that money to stimulate the local economy? Yes sir.

Im talking 2 or 3 weeks ago when it was he said he was working to lower cost for insulin for seniors on medicare next year and many were running around saying he lied again

Besides that this thread was about medicare coverage

Besides that, you are using the same lib logic on this that the libs used complaining about stimulus and unemployment benefits

the exact same nonsense logic that if you help many and you are republican we will hold you to the fire for the few not helped even if undeserving

Meanwhile, the lefties love the policies that help the few especially those that don't or refuse to work or go through proper channels EVEN or Especially if it hurts the middle class in the name of fighting the rich 1% (though they protect the really rich)

The statement that I used is concerning insulin costs during the debate. You used no statement. So.. if you'd like to actually refute the statement I made, please quote your statement.

Secondly, you're making a lot of broad statements without any objective support.

Obama policies, as well as Republicans (and more specific Trump policies) always help the "1%" because they help the other 99%.

As for blindly loving Obama, there's not support that's my stance. Furthermore, I've been just as critical of Democrats as I have been of Republicans.

This forum skews Conservative, I call bullshit of more of your garbage because most of you consider Republicans Good, anyone else a Liberal.

We're Americans here. Blindly following a party, which is what most of you guys do, over country is a major problem, imo.

Just to be completely transparent, I believe in the system of checks and balances. Republicans has all but abandoned that system. Yep, I voted for Joe Biden.. because Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to our country, which a vast amount of the country agrees.. if you believe polling.

Tell me more about my political views.

This thread is about Medicare, and you opted to say that "Trump supposedly lied" vaguely. Now, if you'd like to point to something specific, which you still haven't done, I'm happy to stand corrected.

Secondly, Republicans and Trump agreed to everything you're talking about. Our government agreed with enhanced unemployment benefits. Republicans are about to agree to them again. Democrats aren't holding a gun to anyone's head here. Except for the House, Republicans hold all three branches of government (and prior to 2018 absolutely owned all three.)

At some point, you have to come to terms with your deflection and finger pointing... Or you're simply delusional.

You cannot make the case the Obama care helped most Sorry

And just so you know I view Dems as dangerous Because they envision a society that is not free subject to dependency to govt for all needs and compliant to the thought police

I don't view the right as good just a lot less dangerous, though still Very dangerous just a lot less than the left

There is no good at this time
