Hello.

I have been selling health insurance for years now and I have held a life insurance license for about a year now as well. I am looking to venture out and start selling life insurance as an independent agent.

Any advice? Where to start? Who to start with?

Thanks in advance!

What market are you looking for? Main market or senior market? Do you need field training? What state/s are you licensed in? Are you looking to sell f2f or over the phone?

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but for life insurance sales for independent agents here is an agency that does a lot of online training that you can check out. http://uandiwin.com/

If you would like some good training for life insurance sales without having to sign up with an agency be sure to look into the Independent Life Insurance Agent Association at Independent Life Insurance Agent Association

In regard to Tampa Bays post. I do like U and I win. All of the affliliates I know through that company (I'm direct for the most part), are top notch. I have a few things going through there.

Welcome to the business!
My advice is this: find an MGA with concierge services. You will have underwriters and case managers at your disposal to support your sales and underwriting efforts. You don't have to become a specialist in the field in order to sell the product and make a lot of money. You just need a staff of professionals backing you.:)

My advice is find a mentor or someone that really knows what they are doing. The best thing about the life industry now, like all others, is that it is rapidly changing to a longevity risk planning market.

I know within our Transamerica Agency Network, we have both career and independent positions which offer a lot of in-office and online training, as well as provides you with many tools absolutely free that you may pay an arm and a leg for outside.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything!
