Optum, what is this?

Hello,

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your partnership with Optum. It has been exciting to work with each of you! I am reaching out to emphasize the importance of tracking your lead activity in the Optum Broker Portal. Leads are categorized as any sales and/or contacts made that are acquired through events sponsored or promoted by Optum. Accurate and timely reporting is crucial in demonstrating the value of our collaboration and helps me understand which activities (e.g., tabling or events in our community centers, member appreciation events, T65, Medicare 101, community engagements, or other Optum initiatives) provide the most value to consumers interested in learning more about Medicare.

Effective immediately, it is required that you enter all leads and sales acquired through the above listed activity. We understand that not all consumers are willing to provide consent to share their information. In such cases, please continue working with them but do not enter their information into the Broker Portal. For all other consumers who engage with you and provide consent to share their information with Optum, we ask that you ensure these leads and resulting dispositions are entered into the Broker Portal. Ensure you have a copy of your Broker Portal marketing flyer with you at events as it's an easy way to capture consent from a consumer and drive the lead directly into your inbox. You will receive your personalized Optum marketing flyer after you have completed Broker Portal training.

I will be sending invitations for a training session on the Broker Portal system soon, so you can begin entering your leads and sales as soon as possible. During this training, we will also cover how to effectively use your QR code flyer to capture consent at Optum supported activities. If you have not partnered with Optum yet but are planning to in the future, please attend this required training now.

Thank you in advance for your compliance and continued partnership.

Best regards,

Optum is a pseudonym for United Healthcare. They continue to use the same predatory practices made popular by UHC in the 1990s that led to the demise of PacifiCare and other HMOs. Optum is gobbling up IPAs and other systems, such as Health Care Partners that have functioned well for many years. I prefer to guide clients to other provider networks if they don't already have a PCP in the Optum network. (I will never disrupt an existing doctor-patient relationship unnecessarily).
