I don't remember if anyone was able to get a clear answer on this before, but I called PCIP for a client this morning and they said if the client has a mini-med/limited-benefit plan or any STM, they are not eligible with PCIP until 6 months have passed....so don't put your clients on HealthAccess or STM thinking they will get on PCIP later.

I have a guy asking me if he was eligible because his coverage is from England and does not cover him in Texas.........told him he would have to get that answer from them.....if it is a go then I could help him......should be interesting.......

Only an accident policy is allowed to be owned before getting on PCIP. In addition, be sure the client signs the app after the ENTIRE six months waiting period has expired. I have a client that signed it 1 day early, was declined, and now the eff date was pushed off another month. Because of this rule, all PCIP clients are assured to be un-insured at least 7 and maybe 8 months by the time it's processed.
