Preset appointments

There are a lot of companies out there hiring agents to run preset appointments to sell medicare advantage plans.

Does anyone have any experience with these types of companies?

Thanks for the info!

From what I have experienced both personally and with talking to other agents, this is the most expensive way to go as an independent.

If you are getting "free" preset appointments, then they are worth just that, nothing.

A lot of running around, a lot of no shows, a lot of "I told them not to send anyone out", etc.

Sure, you will get a sale here and there, but there are more effective ways to go about this. I would only use preset appointments if I had a street level contract and had other marketing in conjunction with it.

I've been approached by several companies lately that say they will send me out on 5 preset appointments a day to sell medicare advantage plans. For every plan i sell they will pay me $200 they say the close ratio is 40% so 25 appointments a week should equal 10 sales. Anybody familiar with this?

:twitchy:How are there going to be enough of these "pre-set appointments" with the new imposed CMS rule change of NO calling seniors anymore unless solicited by the prospect first? don't ya think the seniors will get tired from all the bland direct mail (of course approved by CMS) sitting in the mail box. cost of these preset appointments i think will be very expensive. how are these FMO's going to market to the mass of seniors now?

with so many rules constricting the marketing to seniors, it appears to me CMS doesnt have confidence with there system to make it fair, clear and simple for the seniors or for the agents to market. all this cms constriction really will reduce the sales of MA plans. I just wonder which insurance carrier will come out ahead this 2009 season? any guesses?

Sounds like Parker or one of their shell companies. Beware. The commission is too low, and besides, I am not sure anyone has officially posted 2009 commissions.

As far as number of appts, it will simply be done with mailings and advertisements inducing the return of a postcard for more info or for the client to call in to a call center who then sets an appt. Much the same as in the past. What is eliminated are those of you who telemarket off of lists. Door knocking was already illegal.

Sales will be down for MA's this year. Mostly because the markets are becoming more saturated and mature. Anyone who is trying to make a living off of just MA's during the set enrollment periods may have to adjust their standard of living. ;) Anyone who thinks you should be able to make a living in the short 4 1/2 months of the enrollment periods misunderstands the concept of working for a living...

I agree with Chuck. I have actually made a living this year only with MA plans, but I have been servicing the Medcaid market for the past 6 months (the MO Medicaid rules changed this year).

However, after this AEP/OEP I am changing gears and going for Final Expense and fixed annuities.

Yep.. M/A is too difficult with the new rules and reduced (in most cases) commissions.. Not worth the hassles anymore.
