Running FB Ads

Hello,

I'm getting bored this time of year and trying some other ways of getting business. I'm running an ad on facebook talking about the fact that people MAY be able to change their medicare supplement plan. It references the recent increases in premium that most people have faced on that sort of plan. My thought was that a lot of people don't know that they can change medicare supplement plans in the middle of the year if they can pass underwriting.

A guy responded to the ad last night at 10:30pm, so I called him this morning. He answered all cheery, but as soon as I started talking he got all flustered and said he wasn't interested and hung up. I am not shocked at all by this happening, but I'm wondering what the best approach is with this type of situation. After he hung up I sent him an email showing a screenshot of me receiving his information and explaining what the ad was about and I attached a quote for a hypothetical plan G for 70 year old male in my zip code that shows the range of prices for the plan.

In my ideal world, these people would be calling me in an INBOUND call, so maybe I need to change my tactics. I'm used to talking to people who want to talk to me. Has anybody had any success with driving high quality inbound calls using facebook ads? At this point I am mostly just experimenting because it isn't crazy expensive and is a good way to test ideas.

Other than mail which I am already sending out, has anyone found good ways to drive high quality inbound leads to call you? The vast majority of my business has come from referrals, probably around 90%. The bad part about that is that there is only so much you can do to control when they come in and I would like to stay busy and productive more often.

How well does it work for you? How much mail do you send per month and what are your returns?
Can you answer the same questions? I will do my best below.

the list is about 225-250 and is mailed to 5x. I think there usually ends up being 2 mailings per month. so about 500 per month.

I've been doing it for about 22 months and I've sold about 19 new clients from it. Doing some rough math I'm looking at around $500 per new client. (I am excluding a mailing I did to a city that had literally zero response and cost me a bit because I don't consider that to be representative of the service overall.)

I don't know how many I've contacted etc but there have been some people who aren't ready to retire yet and just have some questions. I've already had some of those people come back around later and work with me.

I will say that the clients I get from this are very high quality, likely to give referrals and pleasant to work with. If I could up the volume by 10x with the same result I would. I just want to roughly break even on the year and focus on the renewals as the part I'm looking to grow.

This is what I posted in another thread:

"I drop a rolling 5 month to about 1,500 people a month (so approximately 300 T65's for each month). I get about 6 per month that simply call me, but I also drop DM to the same people and probably sell another 8 from prospects that received my letters and returned a card."

Went back and looked... I've been doing it for about 25 months and I've sold a total of 107 new clients. I've tweaked my mailer and areas I mailed a few times. Early on I was targeting specific zip codes in several counties up to 2 hours away. I was averaging 2-3. I now mail 2 entire counties and I am seeing about 6 per month now.

Can you explain this part a little more? "i also drop DM to the same people and probably sell another 8 from prospects that received my letters and returned a card." You mean you do a separate mailing to the same list? Using what messaging? Interested in that idea.

Nice, based on that I think I need to tweak my parameters a bit. I've been thinking that for a while. It's interesting what people consider a "local" agent. Or how they may perceive agents from a certain city even if it's right next to theirs. 107 new clients from it is amazing by the way. 50+ a year would be a nice boost to existing sales.

I also do larger DM drops that include the counties that I mail for inbound leads. When I get a BRC from my DM I send an introductory letter inviting them to call me, but I can also tell if they are on my inbound list. When they call me, they refer to "getting my letter" but I don't know which one they are referring to, so I count it 50/50. The inbound mailers at least warmed up the prospect.

I get about 8 of those a month.

And I just use mailers available from any mail house. Nothing custom.

Well, I do 3x the mail you do, though. But I also include my picture and I'm kinda a handsome guy... lol

So you are saying you get 14 leads a month from mail alone? Or you write 14?

I imagine you are spending quite a bit on mailers! Worth it of course if you get enough business out of it.
