United stock down a record 20% this am .

So you think a person making 7 figures a year trading can't help people?
Philanthropy maybe, but not with work. I've never met a selfless day trader. You would have to be only thinking of yourself, which generally translates to everything in life.

I was a full time trader for 23 yrs . I made and saved substantial wealth over that time . Why you ask ? I got tired of sitting in front of a screen 8 hrs a day for 23 yrs . To be a great day trader requires an almost obsession to be in front of the screen at all times . In the old days I'd take 4 monitors and my desktop to the beach . Trading most of the time is boring and mundane outside great volatility spikes . I still trade but I position trade for days, weeks and months . I enjoy meeting people and selling .medicare mostly .

The guy I'm talking about has well into 8 figures and is in his late 30's. He has a figure he's shooting for and then he's "disappearing" and living off dividends and interest. Not a chance in hell he's going to be selling insurance or any other kind of job.

I assure you, if I had a nest egg of $20,000,000 or more, I'm out. Gonna put a chunk of it in muni's and dividend paying stocks and then I'm just traveling and enjoying myself.

How many people have $20 mil liquid assets? Its very very few .That said i could have retired 10 yrs ago if i wanted . It's like saying why does the guy with 200 rentals still work? Why doesn't he just sell all the rentals and call it a day ? To each his own

All right, so you bring up a really good point I would just like to add that if somebody is trading in the stock market it's more of a I'm doing this for myself type of deal. They might make a ton of money but at the end of the day they're not really Doing anything for others. They're just doing something for themselves while working in the insurance industry. Maybe you won't make as much money, but there is some satisfaction and quality of life to helping other people. That's why I do this because I do like the money I like the freedom but I also really really enjoy helping people I really do
While agents may say otherwise, as you do, in my experience they are in it for the money too.

When a consumer is looking to purchase a product which must be sold by an agent, but what the consumer can afford is outside the agent's sales parameters, the consumer is just screwed.

I have experienced this with both Medicare Supplements and Annuities.

What has kept you from becoming an agent?

I didn't say a ton of people had $20 mil. I said if I had that amount, I'd be out. The guy I know who has an 8 figure portfolio who trades has a number and it's greater than $20 mil. When he hits it, and I have no doubt he will, he's out.

Why does the guy with 200 rentals still work? Maybe he has loans on all 200 and he has to keep working. Maybe he's still young. Maybe he wants 500 rentals. Who knows.

I had a client who had 81 rentals. The majority were Section 8. Guaranteed check. He sold them all around 2005 and bought commercial property. Much less of a headache than the rentals.

I have a client who lives local and has 4 rentals. He's selling them now due to the fact he went to one of them because they hadn't paid rent. They called the police on him and he got escorted off the property. The laws don't favor the property owner.
