What happens to the Uninsured????

So what about the guy with pre-existing conditions, his cobra runs out and he has health insurance and not a single one of you can sell him any?
It's called HIPAA - required by federal law in all 50 states. Gotta buy it within 63 days of loss of group coverage. Must accept and cover all pre-existing conditions.

There is no health insurance crisis in America. There's a "living in too much house with two new cars and eating out twice a week" crisis.

If anyone thinks there's a health insurance crisis they haven't worked 100 leads where 80 of 'em couldn't care less about either getting covered or lowering their rate.

I talk to prospects all day:

me: "ok, you're at $550 and I can save you about $150 a month."

them: "sounds ok. Listen, my cat needs a bath and it's a bad month. Can you call me next December when I can give more of a ****?"

Yeah...there's a real healthcare crisis.

Solid point

Nope...you guys are WAY OFF.

NO hugh home...no 2 cars....no big fancy toys.

You're making way too many assumptions.

Like i said...this guy was down on his luck. A simple guy...works in construction...goes to work everyday...and S~!t happens.

Had insurance before....had surgery....lost his job....turned out the surgery was botched....tried suing the Dr...but ended up getting no where.....and now is without insurnace...and homeless.

Although not a common story....these situations do occur in America. Just go down to your local Free Clinic and do some interviews..

I'll give it to you - it's an imperfect system. However, in Canada thankfully he would not be in this position since his surgery would have been scheduled for sometime mid-next year. Then if it was botched he would not be able to sue.

McDonalds is hiring. So is every trucking company. Hey, dont knock it. I went from an executive position with my own office last year to driving a rolling office (Peterbilt). Kept bread on the table and got insurance. No excuses. Gotta do what you gotta do.

I hear ya! Nothing like driving 500 miles a day, 6 days a week to make me appreciate the job I now have as an insurance agent. My mobile office was a Freightliner Century for a while and then a Volvo VN670. Kinda liked that Volvo....

I was really spoiled for those years flying the really big 18-wheeler! I can't believe I got tired of flying to Hawaii 4 times a month! Life has a way of slapping you to your senses. Luxury spoils... adversity is the best teacher.

Google "EMTALA".

Ck his state Hi Risk Pool... is it available?

Ck the guy's income against Medicaid requirements for his state.

Have him apply for SPAP if his state offers it.

Have him apply for LIS, even if he makes too much for Medicaid.

Lastly, there are many charitable organizations that will assist with short term aid. Your state DOI usually will have a list of them.

The problem with the "uninsurables" is that most of them tallied in the count are simply too lazy to fill out the paperwork for the benefits available to them. This is well known, but gives a biased opinion against those that are truly in need but just don't know where to turn for help. Then there are those that abuse the system.....

Can I put this on my website? Well worded.

I have said for a long time if the USA switched to FREE Health Insurance - except you had to enroll PRIOR to having something wrong - we would still have 40 million uninsured.

This whole concept of equal care and equal access is complete BS. Those who put in more effort or pay more should get more - this is not communist USSR (yet).
