What is the Minimum # of Appointments with Clients?

I'm still new to selling FE and I live in a small town and there's not enough population to keep me busy here so I need to travel to more populated areas to keep a steady source of business. I'm about 1.5 hours north of Las Vegas so that will be my primary location. I don't mind driving the 1.5 hour commute but my question is this:
Is there a minimum amount of appointments I should have before I make the decision to drive that far? For some of you folks, 1.5 hours is probably a drop in the bucket.
Do some of you experienced guys have a minimum number of appointments or do you drive more than an hour for one appointment?

I will drive 2.5 hours one way to work my leads if necessary.

I like to have 3-4 pre-set the prior day; that way can I get home by 5:30.

Short-term goal is to preserve marriage and wife's sanity.

Long-term goal is to resume 3 long days with 6-8 appointments in the field, versus 5-6 short days with 3-4 appointments each day.

Taking care of the kids. That's what wives are for. With seven kids I would never have left if I stayed home every time there was a baby at the house.

How many days a week are you working those ten leads?
I would imagine that you are setting future appointments for the ones that answer the door and have an interest but don't have time or are one legged.
Than you have the ones that aren't home. And of course the ones you actually pitch and sell.
I could see where this could snowball and set up your future weeks.

I almost always drive at least one hour to my appointments. My gal is to have 6 appointments in a day. But I will go for how ever many appointment I schedule.
