What is the Minimum # of Appointments with Clients?

How many days a week are you working those ten leads?
I would imagine that you are setting future appointments for the ones that answer the door and have an interest but don't have time or are one legged.
Than you have the ones that aren't home. And of course the ones you actually pitch and sell.
I could see where this could snowball and set up your future weeks.
That is the minimum I will take on an overnight. Yeah I'll set an appointment for the next day. One legs don't bother me. Depending on the number of leads I can be out of town 1 to 4 days. That is when I work out of town. I usually road trip about 6-10 times a yr

I'm still new to selling FE and I live in a small town and there's not enough population to keep me busy here so I need to travel to more populated areas to keep a steady source of business. I'm about 1.5 hours north of Las Vegas so that will be my primary location. I don't mind driving the 1.5 hour commute but my question is this:
Is there a minimum amount of appointments I should have before I make the decision to drive that far? For some of you folks, 1.5 hours is probably a drop in the bucket.
Do some of you experienced guys have a minimum number of appointments or do you drive more than an hour for one appointment?

I believe you're thinking backwards as to where you're going to work.

Working in a city that is bombarded with agents and has been for years is a mistake. For Final Expense, I travel out of the city to little areas like the one you live in. When I was working in the city, I failed at this business... As soon as I got away and into rural areas, my sales shot wayy up...

Top-notch advice, on top of the fact that the business on-par is of lower-quality and tends to fall off the books more often.

We have 3-4 agents go to a new area for 2-3 days per week for about a month in the summer, share expenses and a Hotel. We drop a bunch of DM for the area and divide it up. They work those by appt and door knocking.

It is a lot of concentrated fun and work with no distractions. A great way to get focused in a hurry. Nothing but work. Get back at 6pm, review the day and motivate each other for the next day.

I do this all the time. Helps a lot. Always have big weeks when we do this

so you have 3 to 4 agents sitting in a hotel room at night with nothing to do, but chase *****, drink and do drugs. or at least 2 out of three!

sounds like combined insurance all over again

I made good money in those days but had nothing to show for it!

Interesting thought. I agree with you...I would rather drive to the smaller towns and work with those type of people...besides Las Vegas is a nasty looking city once you get away from Las Vegas Blvd. I know...I used to live there. My biggest concern is getting the quantity of leads from the smaller cities/counties. If I pay for mail drops in the counties with very small populations then won't my lead counts drop significantly?

Also, with working in the bigger city I figure since I work with the lower priced carriers then I'm the guy who replaces more pricy carriers policies (I won't mention any NAAmes...did I spell that right?). Maybe my thinking is flawed.
