Working While Sick

I have often heard that quote. It sounds good but it is not true... I know people who regretted not applying themselves and being more successful so that their wife and family would be better taken care of after their death.

You should've sold them more insurance;)

I look at it this way. I can take a day and sleep it off or I can be poorly functioning for 3 or 4 days. I usually take the sleep day. There are very few things in our lives that have a drop dead due date, so if it takes 24 hours more, it is not a big deal.

This is an individual choice thing. I know that if I sleep an extra 3-4 hours during that day, I will be better the next.

I only get 10 days per year (sick and vacation combined). I work for a captive agent. I get a so-so salary and shitty commission. I make NO commission on what I sell unless I sell a specified amount of auto, fire, life, health and bank products per month:goofy:

I spent pretty much the entire month of November sick as a dog. Sick day? :D Wrote 100+ apps that month with daily cluster headaches. You know, the ones that come on like a ton of bricks at the exact same time every day, that feel like an ice pick is being repeatedly jammed into your skull? Those are awesome! Took some dayquil and and an excedrin and slapped a smile on my face. Insurance will be sold whether you are sick or well.
Oh, and WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS!

Holy crap another cluster head! I have them too. Been suffering with them for 20 years. Finally found out breathing oxygen takes them away when they strike. You should join our group on Facebook. They have found something that is working for them to get rid of the cycle. You can't get it from a doctor and it's not magic mushrooms. Soon will be illegal so stock up now. Come check out our group of cluster heads from all over the world. PM me or email is better and I'll clue you in. You may not have to live with the bastards anymore.

You are an employee. When you are ready to be the boss. Give up the salary and increase the commission and you will control your own not paid sick days.

I disagree.. It is very true!! As an insurance agent I could sit here in my recliner, NOT APPLY myself, and let my family suffer for my laziness. That is a huge difference than chasing money and placing wealth in front of your family. Instead of sitting in the reclining chair, one can apply themselves 40-50 hours a week and supply a very comfortable life for their family. It's consumerism that makes most spend more time at work than with their family. It's the pursuit of the big home, the fancy car, becoming rich at the expense of their family, and debt that makes one work the long hours.

One can become very wealthy if they stay out of debt.

Speaking as a paramedic now, the O2 probably helps you because it is a vasoconstrictor. Be very careful with O2 though because oxygen toxicity is very dangerous. It creates free radicals in your bloodstream which can be very dangerous. You could essentially create hydrogen peroxide in your blood stream.

Stop hanging around slackers.

The quote is directed towards people who think anything less than 80 hours a week is part time.
