Do any of you have experience using an appointment setter for your leads? I am a door knocker but this driving all over the place is killing me. Cutting my miles would probably come close to paying for a setter. I have never used a service of this type and figured I would see if any of you have. If you have a person or group to recommend that would be great. I've heard the cost is about $15 per set. Does this sound right?

I would ONLY recommend you use your aged leads when you first get an appointment setter. Let them prove themselves first, then give them new leads. If they are not willing to work the old stuff first, then find someone who will. I gave a bunch of new leads to an appointment setter that was experienced and working for other agents. She could only get appointments from about 1/3rd of the people she spoke with... I get appointments from 3 out of 4 on average. Florida is a little tougher than most states but still...

Live and Learn.

Go onto Elance and put up an ad for one.

I pay mine differently than most setters, as turnover is pretty high, and I get tired of having to find good ones after they quit every 3 months.

Mine are paid on a flat weekly basis for guarantee of a specific set of appointments; I negotiated 16 to 20 set appointments (not kept) for an on-going sum. Of course, I wouldn't pay him for a 50% show rate -- I see about 80% of the appointments he sets.

I end up paying more than market price, but I have had my appointment setter for close to 6 months now and he (yes he) is the best I've ever used.

I work with an agent and she would give you a reference for me. If your interested in the info let me know...dianaminsurance7@gmail.com.

I do her new leads and she is very happy with my work.

"Hi, Mary? (or Mrs. Smith, personal preference) Yeah, Joe Blowhard calling from Mr. Bigshot senior benefits? Say, I had gotten a postcard in the mail from you last week that was requesting information about the.....(slowly) FINAL EXPENSE.....(slower) LIFE INSURANCE programs that are available in East Virginia? Do you remember filling out and sending in that little green postcard? If yes- great, well I'm the local guy that gets that information out to folks in (city) and the reason I'm buggin' ya this mornin' is that I'm going to be dropping that information off to people in (city) tomorrow and what I NEED TO DO is set aside about 10-15 minutes to go over the programs with you and see what you qualify for. Now, do you get up with the chickens? chuckle chuckle.....(almost always say no) Well me neither! Ok how about if i stop by between 10a-11a or would afternoon be better?"

If you can say that 20 times 2 days a week, you can save roughly $12,000 per year. I've paid thousands to appointment setters and have found that I wasn't REALLY too busy to set my own appointments. It was lazy tax. Now, if I was part time in the business or recruiting agents or something, I would consider using an appointment setter so that I could always be selling. The only FULL TIME FE agent that really MIGHT NOT have the time to set their own appointments is the agent that is running a minimum of 30 appointments per week......ain't many of those out there.

Having utilized an appointment setting service only once, my impression is that they can not express the passion and commitment of a dedicated insurance professional.

Yep -- I'm angling for 25 appointments a week, and there's no way to do that by your lonesome.

But that script is absolutely solid. That's all it takes to make appointments; it's really that easy.

I stole every word of it.

I agree with that ^^....however, I've set hundreds of appointments and what I've found is that it's really all about the "Benjamins". What I mean is, the appointment setter is setting a $15 appointment. I am setting a $400-$1,500 appointment and that makes all the difference in the world. If they say "I've already GOT insurance!" an appt setter moves on. I get a huge grin and tell them how wonderful it is to be speaking with someone so RESPONSIBLE as them. And "Oh, by the way, just so I can remove you from our calling list, what company do you currently have your life insurance with?" Lincoln Heritage, colonial penn, Bankers......what ever they have just put another bullet in your gun. How would you like to drop by someplace that you KNOW you could replace a LH or Bankers policy? For $15 you can't expect an appointment setter to get that information.
