Anyone Use USDATA for Leads?

wise to spend the extra few bucks for the better data.

I don't disagree with you in concept, but in application I think you may be in for a disappointment. I think your list was compiled poorly which made matters worse, but I hope to hear about your experience with salesgenie data.
 
Keep in mind, over the last few years there have been some drastic changes in business data (and residential data). Nobody has 100% accurate data and I'm willing to bet in some areas of the country, the data could easily be 30-40% off, especially for some SIC codes.

Try getting a list of realtors. It might be 60-70% off due to the number of realtors that still have technically active licenses but have been out of the business for a year or better.

Have you ever went out with a random sample of your data and door knocked it just to check it for accuracy?

Tough to say. Overall I can't complain about my current source. I do use data for telemarketing and the results have been all over the place depending on the vendor/list. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, it's almost always been overpriced. A few questions do come to mind.

First, what is the purpose of using the data to knock doors? Is it to filter out age, income, marital status? For the most part I would imagine you'd probably be just as successful at knocking doors without a list. For the most part I've used my data for telemarketing and it's usually fairly good. My wife is on databases as a 75+year old and that won't be true for decades, but she must have filled out something once upon a time and that's what they have her in "the system" as. Maybe not, maybe it was a clerical error or something else, but because of the way data is sourced it will never ever ever be 100% accurate. That said, there are ways to compile the list to increase the likelihood that you'll be finding what you're looking for, but no matter who you go with their will be issues.

I've called on salesgenie data and I've called on the source I'm using now and to me there is a difference. I know the vendor I use rags on salesgenie and says it's garbage and it's not compiled right and it's outdated and it's not filtered correctly and I know they have reasons for saying all of that, but I haven't studied it enough to recall. What I do know is the lists I get from them are sourced form a variety of databases and overall I have pretty good luck with them. I don't think the type of list you're looking for exists. Can you get when close? Sure. If you changed your approach to calling them might you have better success? Absolutely. Does it make sense to change your approach because the data is sourced in such a way that you'll end up spinning your wheels more than you'd like? Maybe, maybe not, but those are some of the points I would be considering.

I bought some USDATA, and for Med Supps, it has been fairly low in quality. Perhaps 40% disconnected phones... and a bunch (don't know the percentage) that are just wrong. In many cases, since I'm getting generic answering machine messages, this figure could be high - but I have no way of knowing.

I guess it's par for the course.

I guess it's par for the course.

A 40% disconnect rate on the phones is REALLY high.
 
I got another list from them, and measured the results, and the bad numbers were considerably less... so it looks like I might have just got a bad batch. Both batches were fairly small ~2000 numbers each.
