Can I Get Licensed in FL if I Am Behind on Child Support?

Appointments should not be a problem. Just watch who you work for... you don't need to start going backwards. Ask the board about any company you want to work for... Good luck

Something to consider. When you're earning a wage, only a certain percentage can be garnished. However, when you're an independent contractor, all of it can be garnished.

If your behind on child support, depending on how hard your ex chooses to go after you once she finds out you're an agent, every company you're appointed with can get a notice to attach all commissions.

Also, in MD your insurance license will be suspended: Maryland Child Support Enforcement Program - MDHR

MD is also famous for "weekend" or "night jail" if you fall more than 60 days behind. You get off work and report to jail until you're current. Lots of fun.

For everyone out there who thinks guys behind on child support are "evil" - don't ever get laid off.

Very close friend of mine was making decent pay - great job and paid "$XXX" in child support. No problem...until he got laid off.

He got another job but at much lower pay. Back to court he went and the judge said tough - no adjustment. He literally could not afford the payments and fell behind.

He wasn't evil. In a marriage if you're earning $80,000 then your family lives on that. Go down to $50,000 and you make adjustments.

With child support everything "sets" at your income at the time of divorce. Getting an adjustment if you make less money takes an act of God - especially when you're ex spends the money on herself, not the kids, and wants those nice checks coming in.

My high school friend got divorced. First thing his ex did with the money was buy a new car.

your a jerk. Things happen to people the man is trying to
provide now. Chances are his children's mother is a gold digger
like most of them.

Nicely said--i was kinda thinking the same thing. I was actually going to tell the rude dude my sad sob story but decided not to waste my time. I am quite sure the person with the rude comment is not very far off from being in a similar situation (finacially) I am in---trust me, it don't take much but one or two curve balls in life. In fact, I am willing to bet they are alot closer than they care to think. But, I am sure he has life figured out and NOTHING will ever happen to him. One thing I do know, I would not wish what has happened to me over the last few yrs on Satan himself. And just remember Mr. Rude Dude, not all people that get ruined finanically or homeless people for that matter are all bad. Sure, some made bad decisions but there are also alot out there that life just happened to them. You never know, next wk, month, yr, etc., it could be you, one of your family members, a good friend, etc., so maybe you should think before talking next time.

Anyways, to all the people who responded and gave me their advice and input, it is appreciated.
