According to the area of the country you live in. In the southeast it would probably be a bad idea.

Fat chance of that. My wife goes to church 4-times a week. She is practically a nun (yay for me!) But some schmuck knocking on our door on a Sunday wouldn't offend her or me. The few azz wipes that would be a jerk about that would find something to be a jerk about on Monday too.
You must have never lived in the south... Not sure where the OP is located.

I would think of the *salesman* as being a jerk about knocking on my door on a Sunday. I wouldn't think of myself as being a jerk for showing him the way back to his car.
