E&O Issue

Maybe I am the only one here that was a little wild in college, but has anyone else ran into this...

About two weeks ago I applied for e&o coverage through the IHIAA discounted AON - and was denied. I have had coverage through Arch ins. Co. by my old captive company. Now as I am "trying" to venture out on my own, I seems to have run into a snag. The only issues that I have on my record were misdeamenor possession and reckless operation charges over 10 years ago while in college. I have had no problem getting appointed with numerous carriers, and even recently was given the "go ahead" by FINRA to take my securities exam. How should I proceed?

Should I press the issue with AON or move onto another e&o carrier? My biggest complaint is that I had to wait almost two weeks for a "denial" and I have a decent amount of business ready to write.

by the way, I'm a good boy now

Personally, I would want to know the "why".
Just like a client that is declined. You need to know what the issue is. Could be just an error that needs to be corrected.

If it were me, I would talk to AON to find out what the problem is and see if it can be resolved. Most appointment applications (and other applications) ask the question "Have you ever been denied E&O insurance?" If you could turn the rejection around it could save a lot of grief.

North American Life Insurance Company has a guaranteed issue E and O policy for their agents. It's a bit high. But if you contract with them you can get it and write your biz and worry about shopping later. I've never written anything with them and they keep renewing my contract. I didn't have to buy theirs, but it was good to have that option.

I am not really worried about that, I have to send in my "description to questions answered yes" anyway. I am not trying to hide anything here.

Actually I got coverage last night through "E&O for less". That was not even a question with them. I didn't think a misdemeanor 10 years ago could be relevent.

Actually, this has got a little crazy! The lady from Affinity(AON) emailed me my denial but also added that I "could" be covered through their non-discounted program!

How crazy is that? Basically, they will cover me if I pay the extra $50 or whatever the discount is through the IHIAA

Obviously I didn't want to give them my business at that point.

Thats ridiculous, I would search for E&O elsewhere, perhaps it was just some sort of glitch...
