EasyMedicare.com cold calling Advantage plans

Vic the truth is if mailers were straight forward they'd be cost prohibitive to mail . As I said tons of new agents entering the Medicare space as IMO's recruiting like crazy saying renewals for life . Passive income !!!! Bs if you don't stay in contact with your clients 2 times a yr on mapd and talk to them they'll be gone fast .

I contact My Med Supp Clients at least every 2 to 3 years med advantage, They just get news letter some emails but I don't call unless they call honestly

I would rather lose a few than spend all my AEPS dealing with people staying on their plans maybe saving a few

Mostly they will call me if thinking about any changes and they already know to call me if they have issues with bills or changes in their needs mostly they do call me

But yes My MEd Supp persistency is around 90% MA is probably 70% over 5 years for both

Everyone needs to have your client file a complaint with CMS and your local DOI. I believe that's the only way we can half way control it. Funny thing is I've had a couple who have fallen for it and switched from an Aetna PPO to an HMO over the phone and what they don't realize is I still retain the AOR and they just wasted their time.

Yet you read the DOI website and what they are dinging agents for compared to what the TV commercials and these large call centers are doing is ridiculous.

How do we report them?

Does anyone have the commission schedule for reporting "alleged/assumed contact without permission to contact?"

I apologize if that sounds "snarky" as that's not my intent - my intent is to get the point across that (a) reporting will net you $0 (actually, if time has value, reporting costs you $$$$), (b) you don't actually know that this was an illegal call, and (c) even if you successfully and valiantly report this abuse, it'll happen again, and again, and again, and again and again by hundreds of other call centers.

In my opinion, it's better to focus on building your client base.

It's the clients word against the agent. There's no taped conversation. Unless somethings in writing it's going nowhere . Your telling me i replace an Aetna Hmo with a ppo plan I wouldn't make the commission . I bet 1/4 of mu business with Humana and United is upgrading plans and I always get paid .

The TV Commercials they have now are more bait and switch than this

Even the popular mailers that FMO''s Love about some ominous changes in medicare is a bait and switch too

But you are right that call is not that

It is perfectly legal to advertise for MA.The problem is with cold calling pretending not to be cold calling for MA - even if you do happen to sell some Med supps. The way CMS see it is if your cold calls for "med supps" or "medicare reviews" results in a high rate of MA sales then you ARE baiting and switching.Unfortunately the rule breakers are not often caught until there is a complaint filed then the first questions asked is - How did you get permission to contact? I assume there are alot of complaints being filed because i have heard many many stories recently about agents lying their ass off to make a sale.

So many variables that its not even worth worrying about :)

Its likely they are within the CMS guidelines'. They might be flying close to the wind with them, but its unlikely they are doing brazen things as you suggest.

1st of all I don't see how good it would work out if someone just went cold calling with the purpose of switching to MA plan

I doubt too many do that too long would have to offer a multitude of products and if they try and fit a square peg in the round hole all day it won't work well

2nd the TV commercials are often way more misleading some claim benefits the same as supp then also claim benefits of MA

Some say its about owed benefits from the GOVT not clear its plan specific

One commercial Joe has a med supp followed up by JOE with MA but seniors watching will just think its dif aspects of the same policy

I could go on and one with the lies and misleading of the TV commercials

Someone said with mailers its necessary because how would they get sales otherwise

I don't agree with that However I don't care about any of it it does not affect me greatly I correct the mistakes of the commercials and get sales Like I correct the mistakes of the previous agent whether cold-called or in home

Just stating the fact that the TV commercials are more a bait and switch than these calls

Furthermore, I would say many times the prospect in misunderstanding the situation or lying or not remembering correctly 9 out of 10 times

Many times they are called because they filled out a reply card or a Facebook thing some Facebook ads auto-fill and they just hit send

and they forget or don't realize they did this

I have my Facebook set so prospects have to fill everything out and hit send and it is very strait forward not in the slightest bit misleading

I still get some that swear they never did it and some that thought is was some free thing not insurance

I don't know how but they are lost with this stuff a lot of time

I certainly wouldn't waste time on an agent that may or may not have cold-called and talked about an MA plan

And why if you sell it right you should have to worry about another agent sniping it away

I maybe lose 2 or 3 apps to another agent a year usually during AEP its a small number and not worth worrying about

Let's be honest. It's the Wild West again in Medicare. Cold call MA. Switch people during non valid election periods. It's all ok now and it has been for a year at least.
At least that's what I'm finding out from the clients that I've lost

That's exactly what I experience here in my neck of the woods. With the extreme proliferation of endless TV commercials and online advertising, retention has become a bigger challenge. My theory is that Fakebook and other sites are able to tap into the members' personal information simply by accessing "friends" and the actual subscriber's information. How many people read the fine print when registering in those sites?

Webotex is most of your business face to face or over the phone? Because I did face to face fe I'm more prepared than most for retention with the dual group . These people fill out many cards a month . I beat in their head 50 times agent after agent will be calling you day and night . Don't answer the phone if the #'s one you don't know . There's scammers on every corner . I'm your agent for life . If something better comes out I'll move you . With 1000's and 1000's of fe guys using lead cards to pound the door the last few yrs retention is tougher . Let's be honest . These plans are GI and the medical for duals the same everywere . It's how one spins the benefits .

It's how one spins the benefits .

The duals are the least sticky.

I agree. The influx of FE agents getting into the market will only make it worse.

Thankfully, in my area there are usually only 1 or max 2 SNPs. So my retention on the few duals I write yearly isn't too bad - but if my area ever gets a bunch more I'm sure the FE agents will try to flip them when they can.

I look at it this way: I'll write them when the opportunity comes up, but I won't target market for it.
