Google Instant

Check What?

Its no secret that people spend more time on facebook , So it has nothing to do with my original post of Traffic based on Alexa, Huge Difference.

First sentence of the Article you posted explains it. Here, I will help.

While it's no doubt a major milestone for Facebook, the implications to Google's business are negligible since the company measures success based on decreasing the time spent on their site.

Many articles written on this but IMHO, Google should concentrate on what they do best - search. We can see what happened when they decided to enter the phone market.

John, Google has many departments, Search is only one, and Trust me, they are light years ahead of the Rest, Why? Because they have been collecting data for years.

Google Instant, just destroyed the Typical SEO services and Systems, The Savoy will dominate the Search Results and Prosper. Why? its all based on the Consumer now.

And they will be the long-term giant in this market as long as they don't continue to be distracted by incessant business failures as they try to branch into other areas.

Ok. Going back to the OP; I now see what the big deal is with Google Instant (not sure if I like it yet or not), it was not what I thought it was.

When I read the article it seemed like they where talking about the drop down suggestion bar underneath where you type in your search. That has been there a while and changes as you type.

They are now doing it with the actual search results on the page.
As you type it throws out suggestions underneath like usual, but the actual results on the webpage appear and change as the suggestions do.

Its really crazy to try at first. But after some getting used to it, it was ok.

What was really crazy is that I was searching for something and had ran about 10 searches already, then all of a sudden I typed in a different keyword and the search results below where going crazy as I typed! It just kicked in all of a sudden!

But as I said before, it takes some getting used to, and Im not a fan yet.

IMO google isnt going anywhere anytime soon.
I dont think that most people realize the full extent of Googles reach these days.

They have become a huge force in the networking and server arena. Their servers dwarf most others. And they are helping to lay down and improve networks all over the globe (especially outside of the US)

Also, they are loaded up with government contracts; there are employees at google with higher federal security clearances than some analysts at the CIA OR DOD.

Their advertising is huge, and you dont even realize half of it is even there. They not only pretty much created local internet marketing, but after years they are still the leaders in it.

Google apps are hit or miss, but they have some very inovative ideas and there are actauly real life applications that some can be utilized for (it will take time to refine the apps and figure out the best uses).
Google goggles has TONS of potential, and is a cool app when it works.

Yes the Google phone was pretty much a flop. But this is mainly because they did not partner with a carrier to sell it. The phone itself actually was a solid phone.

But what has not failed is the Droid Operating System that has been growing by leaps and bounds.

Droid capable phones have been outselling blackberries two to one over the past 2 years. And have been keeping pace with average I-phone sales.

With the introduction of Droid to the asian market look for it to surpass the iphone in a few years most likely. Google is even more popular in Asia than it is in the US (the asian market has extremely huge untapped potential).

You could make an extremely profitable company just from the Droid OS.... much less all the other stuff they have their hands in.

Also, lets not forget about their corporate email service that has been growing faster than any other corporate email provider in the last 3 years.
If you have a Droid phone and Google corporate mail, the way they sync everything up instantly is absolutely awesome.

Our office is not very tech savy for the most part, but we have utilized and incorporated the extras on gmail corp so much that it would be hard to go back to anything else, we would definitely loose productivity!

In short, Google is not going anywhere imo.

To my point - they need to concentrate on search and leave phones to Apple and social media to Facebook.

You might want to try out an HTC droid phone sometime.
IMO it beats apple hands down, and is much more business friendly.
The millions of others who are buying it seem to think so too.
