Maybe 5 months, out of all it's history (back to 1913), was it actually a slogan for a "broader political agenda" namely women's rights. That's essentially it.

It's not an intellectual definition. It's the definition. It's literally what the word means. The article that G presents spells it out. The Right co-opted a word to encapsulate what they believed was the entire "progressive agenda."

The day that you start putting into question a dictionary definition is literally when there is no source that you do not believe except one that confirms your bias. One that villianizes anything that is even remotely different from yours... because a victim always needs an offender.

I like hyperbole sometimes too, but we have quite a few problems and Vic being correct about how language works isn't one of them.

No. The term was mainstreamed by Black Lives Matter, and if I recall it was after Michael Brown was killed. Black Lives Matters' founders are, to quote one, "trained Marxists." Specifically, neo-Marxists, as they're into Critical Theory, intersectionality, etc. THIS is why the term became contextualized with a "broader political agenda", due to the agenda of the people mainstreaming it.

Words mean whatever their common usage is. Dictionaries REFLECT that usage, they don't dictate it. That's why dictionaries change. Or, sometimes, activists just get dictionaries to add/change definitions (as in recently).

Vic is absolutely correct. Because that is now the common usage of the word, that IS what it means. The dictionaries can either catch up or not, that just speaks to the quality of dictionaries.

Progressives themselves, for the most part, will disagree that someone is "woke" if they disagree with any of their agenda. The term was mainstreamed by neo-Marxists so, surprise, that's the common usage. The right mocks it, for sure, but they didn't co-opt it.

Great projection. I seem to remember the definition of "racism" being changed somewhat recently, by people (progressives) who villainize anyone who believes even remotely differently than them...and they're perpetual victims who always need offenders.

Do we implant operatives to encourage them to do it, then let a bunch of them walk right in, then lie about them killing people and shoot one of them in the face? Do we act like it was the worst thing ever after downplaying months of MORE violent riots? AGAIN?

Or, ya know, we could just have more security instead of pulling a political stunt. Like we did when people tried to storm the White House, burned down a secret service station and set St. John's Church on fire and then we all forgot about it.
