Like many of you I have been left underwhelmed when sending business to Assurity. Their product certainly has a place in our market but dealing with them can be a real chore. That said I had a conversation with one of their executives today outlining some of my concerns. I mentioned that I would post something here asking for some CONSTRUCTIVE feedback from some of us that make our living in this market. Please let me know of some specific shortcomings so I can get back to him and try to make things better over there.

FYI. This conversation isn't about the product so much as it is the process.

Hey buddy we have been telling those guys at Assurity for YEARS that their product is a pain in the behind and they never listen and never seem to make changes to help us.

Best thing I found to do was to stop using them altogether and like I said in another thread is to write companies that make your life easier and issue more business.

More money less hassle

I appreciate you trying to resurrect them for FE, but I haven't considered them for FE cases in several years. It was actually funny to hear it.

There was a time though, when I did like using them for small face wl policies, mainly because you could run an illustration and leave it with the client. I thought it was a more professional approach to the business, but once they started declining people, who could easily get covered elsewhere, it was a no go.

Write an app that their UW's follow. Make it as tight as they want, but give us one where most clients are approved if they meet written requirements.

Or raise their prices and loosen the belt a bit.

Have a phi that follows the app.

It's pretty simple really. Nobody is into rewriting clients due to rate ups or denied apps. Ain't happening. We avoid that like a 2bit hooker with the drip.

I'm sure you know that though and I'm sure that was discussed. Maybe you're looking for specifics on when apps were declined? I'm sure they're aware of that as well though.

This thread assumes that the people at Assurity who can make changes, actually care. I assure you, they are perfectly happy with the status quo. They may want more business, but not it if means altering their underwriting methods.

They are not oblivious to what underwriting is doing and they are not waiting on feedback from some agents to change.

Where Assurity shines is taking some random screwball case that no one else wants. Let them adverse select themselves into oblivion.

Come on guys. Humor me here. Let's start small - what are the biggest problems with Assurity?

What Jimmy said. Why bother with the app if you aren't going to follow it?

How many 20 minute phone calls do we need about GERD?

I recently contracted with Assurity only because they have good smoker rates and they will consider a person with CHF as graded. I wrote a lady who was 54 this week with CHF and the PHI took over 45 minutes. They asked her much more than what was on the app. In the end though they approved her graded.
