How Many Per Week

You can average 10 per week pretty easily.

Rob,

Mutual has the standings for the trips on the homepage. They list the top 100 agents in order and while they do not spell out what products are sold to achieve the numbers its pretty easy to figure out.

If the top 15 Mutual of Omaha med supp agents write between 400-500 apps per and they are the largest agent sold mep supp carrier in the US, that should give us a good idea of sales numbers per agent.

So suggesting that writing 500+ apps per is easy is less than
accurate.

If you sell 225 apps a year you are in pretty elite company.

Sam, when the agent comes first you will see different numbers from when the client comes first.

I agree 100%, kudos Bob!

We put the client's needs above everything else. We rarely write all sales through just one company, unless say an agent has just one state license and that one company is the best. Even then it's really not possible because you'll likely encouter clients who already have "that" company and want to switch due to premium increase, bought wrong plan, etc.

:1smile:

My agents started doing med supps in about August. Many have goals of 500 sales next year due to their current results

Also from what seems to be trending (and if brainwashed/comfort zone agents catch on to reality) next year you may be saying that Mutual WAS the largest. they will have plenty of competition, I'd think the Mutual rate increases of up to 37% after one year will come to the surface (to other agents/clients) when my agents are rewriting other agent's business.

Rob,

Do you know the top 10 carriers for Medicare Supplement in the
US?

Ask your upline for Mutual for the list, I think once you see the
list and sales numbers for each company you will see how far off base your comment is about someone catching Mutual with respect to sales is.

We are one of Mutual's top 10 FMO's or as Mutual calls us MGA'S and have been selling Medicare supplements for a while now. I see the numbers and stand by my comment if you sell 225 medicare supplements a year you are in pretty elite company.

Bob,

I am not sure I understand your comment.

I agree. The odds of one of the smaller companies even coming close to the market share of MOO, AARP and BCBS is pretty slim. In Missouri the order is AARP, BCBS, then MoO.

AARP has 26% of the market share. What does that tell me. 26% of the people with medsupps in MO are over paying.

I know Mutual is a behemoth not easily taken down and I personally love them for many reasons, and they started supps a year after medicare was created right? That's some traction and credibility, but many agents just focus solely on them, not so much in the interest of the client at all times, but there are also several who are excellent ethical agents, maybe I should have made the point differently.

PS: Several of my agents are in elite company, not all but a bunch

;)

Just wondering what the average number of supps are per week that you are writing?

Having been selling and interviewing potential reps for nearly 40 years I have found that when asked about how much business they write insurance agents are infamous for telling us about a good day or week or month. Such as last week I wrote 12 apps, (and that was before the turn downs, not takens, can't deliver, lapses, and chargebacks) then when you dig deeper you find that they actually wrote only 20 all year. So how many they write a week is not beneficial information.

They are also notorious for stating (especially when they tell their wifes – I've been guilty of this myself in the past) their gross commission as the amount they actually made. When in fact there is no business that if they made $100,000 in sales would tell you that they made that much, but rather would have to figure in all the costs of acquiring that business. That's because agents although they will tell you that they are in the insurance business don't operate as if they were a business.

What you really want to know is how much they earned net from that activity during the last 12 months. Then you can determine what ever it was that you were trying to figure out from knowing how much business they did. Although I can't see how that should be a bell weather for you.

Personally I don't write med sups or burial policies although I will sometimes provide free leads to a med sup or final expense agent that wants to run those leads, and they get to keep all of the commission on the policies ….IF… they will bring me back a filled in fact finder for each lead.

Then of the few prospects that have a big problem that I can solve the agent will bring me back with them on the second call as the expert (sort of like at the doctors office…the nurse gets you ready to see the doctor) so I automaticaly have credibility with the prospect because the agent has pre-presented me as the expert.

I present the problem and the solution get the commitment and then the agent does all the paper work, delivers the solution and they receive some commissions on the case. It's a win win deal for me and the agent. They are getting consistant leads at no cost, making much bigger commissions while learning to solve the bigger problems and I am only visiting with qualified prospects that have a problem that needs to be solved.

If your having a problem with generating leads or have limited lead generation funds why not seek out an experienced agent in your market area that works the senior market and make them the same offer. They supply the leads, you make the first visit and bring back the fact finder, they sell the solution, you do all the paperwork, and deliver the policy. You get to keep all the med sup and burial commissions, (agents in the estate planning market usually don't want to have to deal with those)
And you get a share in the commission of the larger solutions (annuities, funeral trusts, Life policies, SPWL etc.) You can offer to start at say a 25/75 split and work out an arrangement to have that increase as you learn.

But you have to approach the agent correctly. Every person that comes to me and says "I need a job", I turn them down…but every person that comes to me and says I can make your company some money… I listen to intently!

WTF, what happened to the ".org?"

Den Lobach, (AKA: Forgiven) As a fellow follower of Christ, please enjoy and profit from His instruction:

"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." – Exodus 20:16

"There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community." – Proverbs 6:16-19

"Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies." – Psalm 34:12-13

"For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?" – 1 Peter 3:1-13

"Don't grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!" – James 5:9

"He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. The trouble he causes recoils on himself, his violence comes down on his own head." – Psalm 7:15-16

"Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind." – 1 Peter 2:1

"But the things that come out of a person's mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts--murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person." – Matthew 15:18-19

"Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them." – Mark 7:14

"Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken." – Matthew 12:33-36

"Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?" – James 4:12

"The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell." – James 3:6

"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be." – James 3:9-10

"But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." – James 3:14

"LORD, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the LORD; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken." – Psalm 15:1-5

"He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success." – Job 5:12

"The good person will gain favor from the LORD, but the man who plots evil will be condemned by him." – Proverbs 12:12

"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them." – 1 John 2:9

"For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech." – 1 Peter 3:10

"Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing." – 1 Peter 3:9

"If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless." – James 1:26

"He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. The trouble he causes recoils on himself, his violence comes down on his own head." – Psalm 7:15-16
