New SilverScript SmartRx avg premium of $7.15

Had a guy last AEP signed up for Medicare advantage program went on and on how he is the Poster child for health

Never get sick ever will never go to the hospital and just wanted a plan to put money back into his part b Because he doesn't need coverage maybe some free dental

I got notice two months ago he passed away cancer

This seems to me like a relatively normal short term end of life situation that does not negate the possible long term financial advantages to a healthy person of owning a low premium Medicare Advantage plan.

I "liked" your post as informative, but obviously don't like the fact that your "healthy" client died within a few months of going on Medicare.

I have had a few clients who were healthy and then not once turning 65. All were men that "never go to the doctor". One said the only medication he took was an OTC GERD medication. He had been taking the same thing for years but never saw a doc until he went on Medicare.

Diagnosis, esophageal cancer. He lived almost 3 years with it. Tough old bird.

Another played tennis 3 - 4x per week. Had a physical, passed with flying colors including EKG. Died a few days later. Heart attack on the tennis court.

The guy he was playing with was his cardiologist.

lol this sounds like a punchline to a corny joke (the last paragraph). I believe it though, life is strange.

@sbg_ben this is no laughing matter. True story. Found out when wife called to ask what she needed to do to cancel his policy.

I worked in a hospital to pay my college tuition. The administrator was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. Spoke to everyone and knew most of their names.

Had a heart attack while walking back to his office. Fell to the floor in front of the head of nursing office. No warning. No history of heart problems. I think he was early 40's. No tobacco, not overweight.

Massive coronary.

Dead before he hit the floor.

I have known a handful of guys (maybe 4) where that happened. Range in age from 22 to 73. Scary as hell when it happens.

The 73 yr old was a 2 pack a day smoker with no cardiac history, not overweight. Others were in "good health", no history.

No warning. Just boom and you are gone.

The human body is certainly a fickle thing.. if you think about it so many things have to consistently go right to keep any of us alive day to day. especially with the heart and brain. Sorry to hear about all the loss and it's a great reminder to be grateful to be alive
