Greetings, I'm a newbie to the insurance world. My license is for SC and I have a producers license for Life, Health and Accident. I originally interviewed for Liberty National where I was offered a position contingent upon my passing the exam. After passing my exam the company was slack as far a start date for training. I ultimately decided to just find another company. I have spoken with several people and they suggested that I start with Final Expense and Medicare. I'm looking for any help as to what companies are recommended for starting out or any info as to how to get started with final expense and Medicare! Thanks in advance!!!!

They suggested I start with FE and cross sell Medicare...but I've been reading many post that suggest to start with Medicare and cross sell FE.

There are very few opportunities to sell med sups to the FE market. There are many opportunities to sell MA/MAPD plans to the FE market but that opens up it's own can of worms.

Selling FE as a cross after leading with med sups is a natural.

Still need to become proficient at one of them first.

Either way you are going to need leads. If your path is medicare then you will need an IMO with medicare leads and training. If going FE then you would need an IMO with FE leads and training.

Don't know of any doing both. Certainly not doing both well.

Thanks!!! Do you have any suggestions as to where I should go for leads and or training?

Welcome to Insurance sales!

I would recommend you find a LOCAL agency that specializes in whatever field you want to try. The benefit of a local agency will put you in the position to go to the office daily for training and motivation to keep going through the tough times. This is by far, the best way to learn.

If you are one of those people that has been a TOP sales person in EVERYTHING you do and have the ability to learn very very quickly, a self motivator, then you might be able to get away with signing up with an agency that offers Street level contracts and can provide you with a fixed cost lead or a mail drop per thousand!

I would say no bc I have no idea what FMO or IMO are...if you don't mind breaking it down for me...please feel free...

That stands for Independent Marketing Organization or Field Maintence Organization.

Usually an IMO deals with life and FMO's deal with health products. Not really much of a difference since many IMO's and FMO's deal with both.
