Hello everyone . . I'm a newbie to Medicare. Question - I was contacted by a 66 year old lady on original medicare (A & B) who wants a Medicare Advantage Plan NOW. Must she wait until AEP? There really is no qualifying event . . she just wants a plan now. Thanks for your help.

Yes, she must wait until AEP, UNLESS SHE QUALIFIES FOR A SPECIAL NEEDS ENROLLMENT (IF SHE HAS DIABETES OR A SERIOUS HEART CONDITON. ) Check with your Carriers to see what SNP's are available in your area and what the qualifications are.
Also, if sh'e been dropped from another carrier and has a letter to that effect, she may be able to enroll after Oct. 1, 2010.

Most likely, she will have to wait for the AEP.
