Old Surety

Just picked over the contract. Found the clause. I think they just saw the last application from us. Oh well. They were a very small part of the pie anyway. I think we might have a dozen on there.

No one has called me back so as far as I am concerned they can go pound sand. I really have no sense of humor about things like that.

Yea, I'm thick headed, thought, "cheap prices" place a ton of biz... NOT. Took us forever to get lined out with them. Should have taken that as a clue. Now a few cases down the road it is obvious that they are not "user" friendly. Lisa does all the pending status checks, gets corrections, etc... she's been wanting to chunk them out the window ever since our first application. Silly crap like faxing/mailing 100% of the application kit... even the front page that has nothing to do with the application, GI determination page when they are underwritten, the bank draft form when they are paying annually, and a signed letter to the outbound plan/company requesting termination. Silly.

Cool, 2 minutes to start this thread saved me untold time chasing this dog. Thanks all.

Still curious as to why they have a 'NR' with A.M. Best.

If I understand right, companies have to request to be rated and pay for that service.

I could be wrong though; I often am.

Not Rated Designation

The Not Rated (NR) designation is assigned to companies that are not rated by A.M. Best.

"Not Rated" Categories
The "Not Rated" Categories identify why a company is not eligible for a Best's Rating.

NR-1
Insufficient Data. Assigned predominantly to small companies for which A.M. Best does not have sufficient financial information required to assign a rating opinion. The information contained in these limited reports is obtained from several resources, which include the individual companies and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The data received from the NAIC, in some cases, is prior to the completion of their cross checking and validation process.

NR-2
Insufficient Size and/or Operation Experience. Assigned to companies that do not meet A.M. Best's minimum size and/or operating experience requirements.

NR-3
Rating Procedure Inapplicable. Assigned to companies that are not rated by A.M. Best, because our normal rating procedures do not apply due to their unique or unusual business features.

NR-4
Company Request. Assigned to companies that request that their rating not be published.

NR-5
Not Formally Followed. Assigned to companies that are not formally evaluated for the purposes of assigning a rating opinion

They don't even have a number after their NR designation, G. No biggie, I just get curious about things.
