UHC hasn't made a huge effort to compete in the PDP business in recent years. I spoke with a regional rep before AEP, and she told me that. She said the PDP market has not been a big target for UHC.
In the states where I am often quoting, UHC doesn't even have a PDP under the LIS benchmark, which keeps them out of that market.
The preferred plan, with its enhanced benefit design, has been a contender for a lot of business I was/am writing. I probably sold about 100 of them during AEP.
What are the theories on why they removed commissions?
Im a bit surprised they cut the commissions entirely on the PDP. They could have followed the example of a few other carriers and just cut the commissions in half.
