What May Happen with Medicare Advantage 2017 & Beyond?

No kidding, nothing would suprise me too...

I'm done prognosticating what happens with elections, politics, lawmaking. I recall telling friends:

- 2008 No way in hell that Senator Barack Obama will become POTUS...
- 2010 No way in hell PPACA is going to become law...
- 2012 I can't see how the Supreme Court is going to uphold PPACA...

:err:

- No way Trump will be elected POTUS...

Decided not to say what I was going to

Single payer will put about 2 million people out of work....

You say that as if DC cares and that they consider the consequences of their actions.

They don't care. They don't think there is any downside to what they do.

I don't see the system going to single payer, but if it does, the insurance carriers will become third party administrators as all their claims and data processing still has to be done. Rather than do it from themselves, they will be doing it for the government.

Paul Ryan some years back came out with a plan for people who were 55 and younger for a revised Medicare voucher style system. It was shot down almost immediately. Even the current Medicare beneficiaries and those who were about to age in and not be affected by the change didn't want to hear a thing about changing Medicare. It is still a very protected program.
