What Title Should I Use on My Business Card?

No, we don't control rates, but at face value many prospects don't know they get the same rate with a broker as the carrier direct. This, however, is not my point. My point is simply people like to talk to the owner, a.k.a. the person they perceive as the most dependable or knowledgeable, available in the company. I believe this rings true in any line of business, not just in reference to insurance.

Only people who don't know better actually think the owner gets things done. The larger a company gets, generally the less involved the owner is in operations.

I want to deal with a specialist and I don't consider someone that is a CEO/President as a specialist. They are usually generalist/big picture people, not detail oriented like I like.

I have never used owner on my business cards for any of my businesses. By using other titles I always thought it made my business look larger and it also prevented people from hitting on me for special deals or favors. I have had business cards with different titles for the same business.

I actually have several different business cards. I have one specifically for LTC with the logo and my CLTC designation.

When I see someone about life, I use my life insurance card listing my life insurance website.

When I sell medical....well, I don't do that anymore.

You get the idea. My card is almost an advertisement. I use my website instead of a company name on a number of them.

Business cards are very inexpensive. Most prospects expect a "real" business person to have a card. They are handy for promoting you and your website and for distribution of your contact points.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't use them as much as I used to but when I send my thank you package to new clients I put three of my cards in and ask them to give them to their friends. Helps promote my referral program that rewards people for sending others to me.

I know this sounds ridiculous. But what title should I use on my business cards? Owner, president, agency manager or other? I own the business but wasnt sure if the title mattered all that much. Thanks

Here is a copy of my business card:

Use whichever title you prefer. I prefer not to hide under a corporate name or dba, therefore I don't need a title but instead I use my professional designations. Alternatively, you could use your insurance license title or some generic title like insurance advisor, insurance consultant, insurance agent, etc.
