Why Are So Many Agents Lazy?

See my post about her #2. She's way off base or maybe I'm a failure at this and didn't realize it. That's right, maybe I should be high and mighty and comment and give advice in $ hit I don't know and/or comprehend.

I personally think she's dead on with that comment. Like most opinions, they won't fit everyone. It doesn't look like it fits you, but I promise it fits many agents.

It's very easy, when working from home, to get caught up in the "honey do" list. Easy to get side-tracked without discipline.

I guess so. I choose this path because of the flexibility. As a side note, a lot of heavy hitters are only running appts 2 days a week...there's not that much paperwork to be done with FE that can fill up the other 3 days, so I know I'm not the only one doing it this way.

Gooner: I think you missed what she is saying.. When I was in management, I watched a lot of agents fail becasue the exact reason she mentions. There is nothing wrong with a person working the way you do.. You certainly aren't going to fail. As the saying goes, "you plan your work; you work your plan" That isn't the type of agent she is referring to. They did not have the discipline to do what you do.. If they had really busted it two days per week, that would have been OK.. But they would plan to work and then the wife would call, "run to the store, do this or that." Or, 'Honey, how about picking up the kids, I don't want to get out of the house".. etc.. They let so many distractions get in their way, they ended up NEVER doing any work.. There was always something else that took priority.

I can get on board with this.

Not working my plan could catastrophic. I've been working for myself for too long...I'm grizzled, even more so now after working FE. ;)

I do think I'd be the agent youbguys are talking about if I didn't have an appt setter though.

When selling FE you often run across beautiful people(JD's people), and sit in cat piss while picking fleas off of your ankles.:twitchy:

I usually have to pick them out of my hair or my arse:D

Todd, if an "agent" is that weak minded and cant control his family life they will never ever make it, period. Honey do this or that are for the weekends, or as I just did twice this week, pick up the phone and have it done for you, BAM!! Yea, most times unless it involves gun repair or a commercial building survey for remod or enviro testing its cheaper for me to hire it out at the home, I aint real handy:D

Actually her #2 family interference is a real thing. To this day I have to retrain my wife, when I am on a phone day she finds it too easy to poke her head in and ask if I can do something for her...My training involves waiting till she is at work and calling her asking her to do something for me...She normally gets pissed but eventually comes around and its good for a week or so.

I get that...I was a DJ (still do exorbitant weddings) for the first part of our relationship. I had to break her in right..and by that I mean...we were discussing this thread today..her exact words were, "you're lazy as hell, I gave up trying to get you to work more years ago" ahhh...it's nice...finally broke her in!

Let's think about this for a minute.

Now I've written a hand full annuities in my time..like 4. So I should have free reign to give the annuity guys advice on how to write them...uh..no.

You know I think people from different specialties can and do learn from each other. This forum saved my business back in 2009 when new 403b regs were going into place and I was faced with rewriting 50% of my business for the past 7 years in a very short time. I learned on this board agents were doing phone appointments and processing transactions via fax. At the time my B/D had no written procedures for doing business that way. Realizing my plight I needed a solution so once realizing the carriers would agree I worked out a way to rewrite my business. I was having 20+ appointments by phone per day with clients for 15 minutes giving the problem and my recommended solution and rewrote about 90% of what I needed to do that way.

I qualify my statements as not being a FE agent, I do more annuities than anything else but think I can add value here....Plus you FE guys are better than Maurie Povich and Judge Judy and Jerry Springer rolled into one.

Like I said...learning is fine...I troll the med sup and life forum a lot...along with the P&C forum...it's interesting and I do learn a lot, but you won't find me spitting dribble over there...ok sometimes you will, but not often.
