Absolute Minimum $$$ to Start?

So many different views from so many good producers its kind of makes my head spin. I believe it is damn near impossible to determine, with any degree of accuracy, how much money the female op needs to have in order to have a decent chance at making it in this business.

I believe at the end of the day, her success or failure will mostly be determined by her sales ability, not by her bank roll.

The less marketing money you have, the harder you will have to work. It depends how strong your internal motor is. Some agents could start with zero dollars and work their way up to being able to purchase weekly direct mail.

Most don't have much drive at all and would even squander a $10K marketing budget if they had it.

It depends on the person and their own perseverance on what they will need to make it.

Not necessarily even sales ability. I have seen "natural born salesmen" that couldn't make it and "poor "salesmen that did. The difference was the amount of drive and determination they possessed.

I've seen this written and heard it said many times: "Success is 10 percent talent and 90 percent hard work."

I think there's a lot of truth to it.

Good point. The best agent FE agent I ever saw (#1 w/ Senior Life) wasn't a slick, sophisticated presenter or closer. In fact observing him there's things he could be doing better as hard as that is for me to believe based on the production I saw him do over eight days. But his secret is that he is great with the people, has mastered his presentation, is incredibly focused (that boy don't waste time!), and finally a tremendous killer instinct. A lot of the stuff you just can't teach people, no matter how many smooth presentations and closes they master.:nah:

Who is the "we" that you speak for?

Just because you are in denial doesn't mean that what I said is not factual.

How could someone that doesn't know how to make a living selling FE train someone else to do so?

It is so stupid to even suggest otherwise that it's not worth discussing. Just your saying it is proof enough.

You should really go back and read what I wrote. To paraphrase it, I simply said that not all recruiters are field ignorant. Some have been in the field and know what they are doing, so you can't make a blanket statement about all recruiters. I know you like to, but it's still not correct just because you say it.

I do agree that it's very hard for someone who hasn't done it to teach it, if not impossible. But those of us who have been, can and do. Yeah, I know you think you know all about me and what I've done in my career, but I assure you that I've spent my time running FE. I've also spent my time running Med Supps and cross-selling FE. They are two different animals, and yes, I understand the difference.
