I think I'm way behind. I probably should have started recommending GoodRx to my clients a long time ago.
Before I do, am I missing something?
What's the catch?
It's great for an attempt to get lower costs but it's not the best when trying to support local business in general. Most of their Pharmacy options are the big names. So while you'll be supporting the local income of those working at the big name pharmacy you'll be pushing business away from locally owned pharmacies. and I say in general because it's going to depend on where you are and which pharmacies have teamed up with GoodRx.
I like to recommend that people review goodrx and call their local pharmacy to see if they'll try to get close to the goodrx price. most local pharmacies are willing and able to do this. In some cases the local pharmacy may not be able to match it but they can get close enough to still go local.
Also, this should give you a chance to build some relationships with local business owners. Reach out to a few and research how your community would handle it.
